It’s hardly sport if someone is told to come second.... Like it or not, it's a team sport the way it runs now. If there was no Constructors title to play for it might well be a different sport altogether. Errrr well I’m no fan of the results being decided by anyone but the drivers. But that’s me If Bottas is ordered to go behind Hamilton what difference would it make to the constructors tally of points ? I used to quite like Hamilton up to where all that taking the knee mularky started. He ordered his team to do that and they had to do it or get fired...... Without doubt Hamilton is a class act. But the playing field is so out of level it must cause dizziness.......

Good to see Hamilton being tested a bit this year, also the mid pack is showing more promise 😎

Max is learning just how good Hamilton is. They're both bagging a lot of points already though - tbh looks like its going to come down to reliability.

Disappointed, I was all reved up to watch the highlights then no race, still I don't blame them abandoning the race in those conditions.
Biggest winner was probably Russell and Williams, I bet he didn't expect to get that many points, although if it had been a wet race in more reasonable conditions I think he may have done well.

I'm not sure how they managed to regard it as a race. It's the first one I've ever seen where overtaking was not permitted. Totally agree about Russell's performance though.

To be classified as a race they only have to complete two laps…… I can’t help wondering if the fans may not get a refund on their very expensive tickedts as a race has officially taken place. 👍👍

Weather was terrible and it seems safety is the number one priority, pleased for George Russell with his first F1 podium 👏🏻👏🏻

It is very clear why the two laps were done - to deliver a "race" for contractual reasons and thus to avoid penalties with the TV Companies (far more costly to pay off then giving the physical spectators any refunds).
I think there could be a bit of a change of rules following what was the shortest race in f1 history?
Maybe the minimum of 2 laps may stand but there must be two full racing laps as opposed to running under any kind of restrictions such as Safety Car, VSC, or any waved flags on the circuit, so they are genuine racing laps and not processional.
Also there was a discussion about would there be a 1/2 point awarded for fastest lap? It didn't happen yesterday as the fastest lap was done by a driver outside the top 10 but something that should be done is a rule that the fastest lap cannot be awarded when behind the safety car. The potential of drivers actually trying to get fastest lap in that situation is actually potentially pretty dangerous. There is a bit of a precedent for this anyway to a degree when drivers have actually been penalised (and Max Verstappen lost a pole for example) when they have done faster with a yellow flag waved then an earlier lap - this being done to ensure drivers respect the flags sufficiently.
Overall, bit of a joke having a 2 lap safety car race yesterday, but at least the efforts of the qualifying the day before got recognised. Unlikely to ever happen again (previous shortest race was actually a race and was before a majority of the field were even born, after all) so how much effort needs to be spent in planning how to mitigate something that will probably never happen again - and if it did, likely enough difference that whatever was worked out would not directly apply.

As usual David, it's all about money ( refunds ) rather than the integrity of the sport.

Trouble is it is not really a sport in the true sense. F1 has, like many other sports, become purely a big money entertainment spectacle.

Not sure if yesterday race was the biggest letdown or the 2005 USA one when only 6 F1 cars took part 🙄

Slightly off subject but I got around to watching the w series race that was at Spa last weekend, not a bad race but spoilt by the weather conditions, but the most dramatic bit was actually what happend in qualifying, apparently the track had dried up a bit due to the f1 qualifying then got wet again causing 6 drivers to lose control on one of the corners.
