typical init, i bought a warranty on my tyres from national that covers punctures and will replace a tyre with a heavy discount if punctured and non-repairable. not had to use it yet despite off road every weekend. still at £5/tyre i though it was a good deal. includes free inspection every 4 months too. cant see it on their website now. must pop in for a free inspection and see.

Its a bloody nuisance ennit Charlie when it happens, was there much tread left in the tyre or was the tyre salvageable?? Just needed a tube..... Fortunately or the bill could have escalated into a tenner...

Wouldn't they only be classed as run flat if they were punctured

Wow Charlie! That is extortionate foe tube! My dinghy trolly has those, and i have baught 2x tyres and tubs for half a dozen of those pounds...delivered. Solid ones are 25gbp each, it makes for quite a lot of tyeres and tubes.

Hmmmm. Slightly off topic but anyone here like me do any reasonable cycling ?
Punctures! , I'm considering going tubeless on my mountain bike. You pour in a specific sealant into your loose tyre on the wheel , seat the tyre then pump it up to its required inflation. IF you get a puncture the sealant fills the hole in seconds and seals.
It just saves weight on inner tubes and is good for the life of the tyre.
Just watched a utube vid on Finish line sealant. Looks brill!
No more spare inner tubes to carry , puncture repair kit etc etc.

Does it work for wheel barrows? I'd be concerned about the fumes preventing it working

If you got a thorn in the tyre, i.e. a "thin" puncture, it worked well. If you got a puncture from a screw or a small cut from, say, a bit of metal, it probably wouldn't. Worth trying but still cary a spare tube an your tyre levers Jamie! It's really the same problem as the 4.3 spare wheel, if you get the right sort of puncture, fine, if not you have to enjoy walking ( seem to remember that you do :TU: )

I am using 'Slime' in my mountain bike. It does work very well as said above on thorns but not on cuts (had lots of thorns... never a cut). A few footnotes - tyers need to be fully pumped up for it to work. If you get a thorn, pull it out if it is big, and gently rotate the wheel so the material gets there, and it will seal it. All you will see is a small green buble (in the case of slime). You should then re-pump the tyre as you loose some air, and it also prepares it to the next one. Only when you need to remove the tube you can see how much it works. Last one i removed had about 10 such holes... that was after about 5 years of using it. If you remove the tube, you need to repair the punctures. Which brings me neatly to the second point... after about 5 years it stops being effective, and it is not sealing very well. Still, 5 years of quite is very good. On the tandem i am not using it as we mainly go on roads or gravel and not mant thorns there, and also i have reinforced tyeres.
All in all, it is working, and i have put it again in the tube (changed tube... too many holes...). Unfortunately, i do not think it would have workd for Charlie, as it does not protect from blow-ups...
