Yes another screw right in the middle of the tyre. So took it along to Toyota for the free repair, yes I remembered after the last puncture we had and paid £15 I think it was, but would you believe it they said it's right next to a previous repair so they can't do it, so another new tyre is to be fitted Think our Rav is a magnet for anything metal and sharp.

No David what are the chances of another screw going in the same tyre right by another repair?

No David what are the chances of another screw going in the same tyre right by another repair? Paul - I take it that the plug for the last puncture is the black bit in the tread about 1" away from the latest one? I don't suppose that it is any consolation at all, but it looks like one of those screws that are used to hold metal sheeting on a roof. Did you find the tyre flat after the RAV had been parked for some time or did it happen as you were in transit? This is the kiss of death, but I rekon that I've driven somewhere between 150 and 200k miles since my last puncture. I'd be interested to know if this is above or below average and where punctures occur. My last one was the north bound M1 on a Friday afternoon and I NEVER want to repeat THAT experience. It's only an anecdotal observation but I'd say there was more debris on the roads these days in the form of bits of metal and nails/screws/bolts.
As a bit of research, could people post here the conditions under which they got their last puncture ( Motorway, A road, side road etc ) and how many miles ( approximately ) since it occurred? If I get any useful information out of the exercise it will programmed into the satnav as places to avoid It would also be interesting to know how many punctures were notified by TPMS systems as they have the potential to avoid tyre write-offs caused by low pressure running.
If I get enough data I'll analyse it and post the results!

The last puncture I had must have been ten years ago at the local recycling centre, I had a screw in the tyre , luckily it was repairable..

Hi Chris. This one happened last weekend when we were down Stratford Upon Avon, I was doing my second wood turning course while Mrs P and daughter were in town shopping etc. But where I was there was building work going on so presume it came from there but Mrs P and myself only noticed the clicking noise when we were driving back on the evening. At first we thought it was a stone but it soon started to sound like metal. The tyre wasn't losing any pressure. The last puncture which is where you can see the plug was a small screwdriver bit but where that was picked up from I haven't a clue. Other puncture was a screw in the side wall so new tyre straight away and before that a new valve had to be fitted and i'm sure we've had another puncture at some stage?

You did well to pick up the clicking, my hearing is not that good these days. Hopefully you have much better luck in other areas of life!!!!!! Stratford Upon Avon stirs some memories, my mums family all came from a small area around Tanworth-in-Arden which is between there and Birmingham so I spent many of my formative years cycling around there. I'm told that the town is by-passed now so the congestion must be eased a bit.

The clicking noise was pretty loud Chris with the windows open so i'm sure pedestrians would have heard it too. First time we had been down Stratford in a few years though I did do my first course at the same venue last September but other than that we try to avoid as it just gets too busy. Seems they have been busy with lots of changes down there?? Had a lovely meal though in the Miller and Carter in the town and we had Nick Skelton and his family sit on the table next to us :TU:
