Yes, I know those settings, those are the ones I set up when I rejoined the new forum.
Will this not stop all notifications on all my threads, I just want to stop notifications on one thread ?

As a General Note, it is worthwhile having a look around at the Profle Options (Click on Edit Profile to see the full set of options possible) In there, you can set privacy levels so people cannot see your forum viewing and posting history; If you prefer to work in WYSIWYG (Preview) mode or BBCode (HTML tags) mode; enable Draft mode so the forum saves your typing in case of a problem (the default is No - I recommend Yes!), and various other options. Have a browse

Really, I'm pretty sure we could in the old forum...maybe not !!!!
So once in a thread, that's it for life ?
Because, I'm not being funny, in some threads, when the ORIGINAL question has been discussed and answered, some go on forever and sometimes off the topic altogether !!!

If you don't 'visit' the thread you won't get anymore notifications until you next visit, which I believe it's the way it has always been on here, some other forums do actually let you unsubscribe, but I think they are phpBB based.
Edit: Just to add, when you receive this email, try not to 'visit' this post for several hours & see if there are any more posts

I am not sure what you are saying in the first line is correct (otherwise why have a notification as that is to prompt you to visit the thread ) (Unless you mean you get one message to say there is an update, but no more after that until you HAVE visited? that is right, yes) Anyways, this is how to stop notifications ... How to Unsubscribe from a Thread

How to Unsubscribe from a ThreadI guess you could also adapt the Bookmark feature to have the desired effect. I.e. Bookmark threads that you are interested in so that you get notified each time they are updated (whether you have participate or not) and Remove the Bookmark when they cease to be of interest. I don't want/get email notifications for updates the threads I've participated in but may now do for threads I've chosen to Bookmark ...

Absolutely right - that is the cleanest way to do it generally The "Unsubscribe" Feature I posted a link to above is a way to basically 'Opt-Out' of a Specific Thread. The Bookmark Feature philip meantions, together with appropriate Notification Settings (such as below) will give you a way to 'Opt-in' to a Specific Thread Which is most suitable depends on the individual member really.

And it works very nicely ... ... I've left Participated ticked but no emails (never) and explicitly asked for 'smart' notification emails for Bookmark threads.
