Ok, so I’ve purchased a pressure washer and I’m thinking of buying a ‘snow foam’ gun to use with it so I am looking for any recommendations ? As it’s a ‘Kärcher’ washer would it be worthwhile purchasing their own set up ? Also what’s a good ‘juice’ to use in it ? Thanks .....

Hi Jase, I bought my foam gun from www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/index.php?searchStr=foam+gun&_a=viewCat. Mine's not the same as the one that they sell now ( - which looks a bit like a left-over from Star Wars ) but both BK and I use this company regularly and have had nothing but help from them. They sell the adaptors from the gun to your particular pressure washer hose seperately ( as do most companies ). If you ring them they will tell you which adaptor you need.

Jase go on EBay and buy the cheapest foam lance you can get.
They are ALL made in the same factory then rebadged or sometimes different colour plastics added, the base lance which is brass and all the rest of it is identical..
Karchers own foam attachments are completely different and are hopeless
Hang on a second ....

Thanks guys, what ‘juice’ would you recommend ? Autobrite Magifoam. It’s not cheap but it’s by far the best I’ve used. It leaves almost no spots but as your car Jase is black a few may show up that would be impossible to see on say silver or white. it costs more but you really do use a lot less to get impressive results. I tried Bilt Hamber recently and it’s rubbish in comparison.

Thanks Charlie, I’ll look it up. I take it , that if used correctly , there is no risk of removing ‘Collinite’ wax with ‘snow foam’ ?

Totally agree with Charlie re. the same Faur East wans being at vastly different prices, but would not recommend any of them now........I have four (4) of the wee keichs in a drawer now in various forms of not working.......they are utter carp. Yesterday I bought a new Karcher, just out apparently, foam gun and will use it today and report. Only bought it on recommendation of Homebase guy I have got to know up here, and he waxed lyrical about it. Also bear in mind these Faur East wans have been diligently cleaned regularly, opened up using correct spanners (Don....) but STILL perform very variably, if at all. They are a shot of lite.

Cheers Kev.... Just out of interest I would appreciate your feedback on the Kärcher one . What about the risk of removing previously applied ‘Collinite’ ? My concern probably comes from the fact that we use TFR at work on machinery and I know how harsh that is..!,

Mmmm...
Kev I have been using the same foam lance for ages... I do strip it and clean it and pay attention to the wee nooks and crannies where particles gather. He’s they need looking after but there is as far as I know no real alternative. I did write an extensive guide on how to strip clean and reassemble them but where it’s gone I don’t know.
Jase you will not remove wax or sealants provided you stick to the correct dilution rates.

Kev can you describe where you are cleaning the lance bodies. There is one absolutely critical part that 99% miss. I bet this is what’s happening in your case. I cannot post post up a diagrame of the lance in its component parts cos I can’t post pictures.

Using Glasgow watter, soft, many years ago I started with 8 parts to one foam. First gun lasted four years with only clean water rinse, nae stripping. It finally blocked so bought a newy and went for 10-1 mix........blocked within a year. Up here the watter is better than bottled, so now 12-1 as experiment. Forgot to mention.......got new China gun twa weeks ago........bliddy thing no working right......£11.99. Methinks it is just a quality versus luck, Chuck.
Jase.......hose may not be defrosted to use today......Karcher gun was £24.95, so THAT better bliddy work or I will say bliddy....... :TU:

I take out anything that is removable, Charlie, blow through where relevant, and boil up the wee Brillo Pad type foam generator widget. I put a fine needle through the wee inlet venturi too. Any advice accepted gratefoolish......lol.
