Good news - it looks like we get Sky coverage on C4. Bad news - the commentary team seem nearly as bad!

If there was a point given for fastest lap no matter where you finished, but no points were given for finish position outside the top 10, it would be a total disaster as you would potentially get upto 10 cars all coming into the pits in the last few laps to change their tyres for the softest compounds, with teammates providing slipstreams, coming back out on the track in the middle of the leading drivers and all during an actual race. Nightmare!
There are some championships where points are given for all finishing positions - that would not be a bad option as it does reward the lower teams more fairly in their own fights with their peers. I am surprised a little that there is also not a point or two awarded for Pole Position when they decided to do the fastest lap point. That seems as fair as a point for fastest lap (In F2, the fastest Qualifier gets 2 championship points)

Question: What do Donald Trump, Boris Johnson and Michael Massi have in common? - - - - - - - Answer: None of them believe that the rules apply to them!

so who is the World Champion? who knows ... and, at this point, who cares? The FIA needs a new race director and to sort out a workable, and understandable, set of race rules ...

I am surprised a little that there is also not a point or two awarded for Pole Position when they decided to do the fastest lap point. That seems as fair as a point for fastest lap (In F2, the fastest Qualifier gets 2 championship points) The business of in race penalties is exercising my brain ( such as it is ) Suppose that instead of drive-through or other time penalties or having to give back a position unfairly won, the stewards removed championship points from a driver for transgressions. If a driver disabled another car by recklessness or forced it off track to gain an advantage, dock them, say, 7 points. For lesser infringements somewhere between 1 and 7 points could be deducted. Any driver losing more than 8 points in a race is disqualified and any driver losing more than 10 points in two consecutive races is banned also disqualified.
The "back end" teams with drivers who transgressed could well end up with a minus score for the season, BUT this would help refine the pecking order. The way that funding from the FIA is given to teams would be in proportion to the points they have at the end of the season.
If a team actually lost substantial funds because of driver behaviour, they might exert more pressure on them to behave in a sporting manner. Probably needs a lot more thought from better brains than mine ...................

Call me a cynic but I'm sure Liberty Media are laughing all the way to the bank. They must be well pleased in having engineered such a sporting 'spectacle' this year after all the previous years of 'boring and processional' F1 being dominated by Mercedes and Hamilton.

(and monetary gain!). manipulation all the way. lets watch the arguements and see if that helps the sport ?!

Charlie Whiting must be spinning in his grave.

Are we no longer using spoiler alerts ? I'm not sure that they are appropriate under the circumstances, but no one has given any information regarding the finishing positions in the 'race' ...

... and the FIA have concluded that the FIA was right - not withstanding the fact they they didn't apply their own rules!
