There is a second site further south near Machynlleth that I visited a couple of years ago. I heard this evening that the nest there has three eggs in it which are due to hatch on 18th May ( - don't ask me how they know! ). Over Covid lockdown the volunteers there have built a new visitors centre and I'm looking forward to going again later this year. Have a look at: www.visitwales.com/attraction/zoo-farm-or-aquarium/dyfi-wildlife-centre-1670162

On other bit of news - we had eight eggs... and as of today there are only three chicks The are lost around one a day, which is quite upsetting. It is not clear to us why. The first one she lost was clumsy of her - the cleaned the nest and just put the chick outside - he did not survive. The rest, I do not have a clue! for example, this morning there were 4, but in the afternoon only 3 are asking for food! not seen traces of anything. I have a grave suspicion she feeds the dead one to the chicks! All very upsetting! (well, to me - I know it is nature but still!) Tried not to look, but it is like fire - I cannot help it!

I may have posted this link previously, but, if interested, there's a good collection of UK osprey webcam links here: ukospreys.uk/cams-uk.htmGood news is @ Loch Garten, (the place that kind of started rebuilding the UK Osprey population) after a few disappointing years, there now seems to be a new pair which have discovered the nest site. At least that was the case, the last time I checked, a few days ago.

The nightingales are now in full swing, very beautiful song especially for the first few weeks, but as the weather gets warmer and the windows are open at night and you are trying to sleep and there is a persistent one right by the house, opinions change🙉🙉🙉

The terriers of the bird world? It's a long time since I've seen such brilliant photos.

Well, it was really nice to see, and I was hoping to see more and I am really disappointed - none of the chicks survived. The last one held for a few days, there was start of plumage, but this morning there was no movement :-( Sad.
