I'm close to part exchanging my current Rav for a newer model, and would appreciate some advice.
Is the ease of part exchange going to lose a lot compared with trying to sell private ?
I have a spare back box for the exhaust ( thanks to Kev ) and also a 5th spare alloy wheel + tyre.
Will the part exchanger take any of this into consideration with any offered price ?
Never sold a car private before, but if I did, what is the safest way to exchange the money ?
All advice appreciated, and if it points to it, may advertise here.
cheers

I doubt it wil make any difference. When it comes to Extras when buying, the Dealers go on about how much they are worth. Selling time, they are totally ignored When I have sold my vehicles in the last few years it has been Bank Transfer using the "Faster Payment" system. It always seems to work within minutes and you can just check on line or call the bank to confirm receipt. The only thing to watch for is if payment goes over a certain figure it reverts to the old slow system so you may need to take two payments if total over that figure to avoid it happening. (with me, it was over £10,000 a couple of years ago)

If you do end up part exchanging, remove any 'extras' like the additional wheel, side steps etc and sell separately. As Hoovie says, you will get no consideration from a dealer for anything you have added.

I think selling private would be better. I helped sell my sisters car last week privately and my first time too. The lady did a bank transfer money was there straightaway and she got just under a grand more than what she was quoted at Toyota

Never sell or include extras. Buyers will not want to pay for them.
Accept payment by BACS an ring your bank to confirm the funds are in your account and cleared before releasing the car. Never take anyone’s word ever. Funds in bank cleared and safe or sod off.
Put your reg number on WBAC for a very basic trade valuation. Then depending on condition add at least 40% to get to a sensible starting point.
If you need help wording an advert just holler more than happy to help ..... I always sell my cars privately and never to WBAC nor do I trade in. 👍👍

Is it too limited a catchment of people to advertise on here ? Feel safer among fellow enthusiasts. Might give it a bash over the next few days. Thanks for all the advice .

Is it too limited a catchment of people to advertise on here ? Feel safer among fellow enthusiasts. Might give it a bash over the next few days. Thanks for all the advice . Although the forum may not appear wildly busy in terms of postings, we do get a lot of guests just browsing and reading posts and checking info (around 50,000 views a month) so you may be surprised. As an example, I use a VW Forum for my Campervan stuff. When I sold two camper conversions on there, one in 2016, one in 2017, both went to people who had no posts and were on the forum looking for campers. Also, the forum is 'crawled' by the search engines so anyone doing a search for a RAV4 to buy will find it here as well (so if you post a For Sale here, use some terms and phrases that people are likely to search for). Good Luck
