Didn't want to hijack BK's thread but I'm wondering if after nearly 17 years I have an aircon leak. The noise sounds like an aerosol spray behind the dash. I also noticed a burning rubber type smell which I'm guessing could be air con gas perhaps. Your thoughts oh wise ones. Why doesn't it do it at tickover?

Does you AC work ? Leaks result in it not working. I think if they leak it would only be for a very short time if you can hear it....

If heater fan is on, and has a leaf stuck in it, it may sound like a hissing.....? Switch it off if it is on to check. Smell of burning rubber more likely to be auxiliary belt based, so pour some water on it to lubricate it......nothing else......WATTER only.

Hissing? That's goosed then. i.e. there's an angry goose stuck under the bonnet.  Leaking vacuum hose perhaps? (Get rid of the Dyson). |
