My silver RAVs never seemed to have a problem with flying shit bombers. Now I have a dark blue metallic volvo, I've had to wash it more times in 3 months than I washed the RAVs in 20 years. I polished the volvo 2 months ago (a record for me as I generally don't bother).
Since then, I've had to wash the car maybe 8 times due to: 1. sahara desert sand covering the car 2. seagulls dropping massive shit bombs on car I don't even know where the sahara is- apart from it defo not in Scotland.
The seagulls are prolific in this area as the remnants of whats left of several fish processing factories who have gone, but left these flying shits around so they must be eating the local food thrown away by whoever frequents the takeaways (carefully avoiding any ethnic issues)
Today has been the limit- the car was covered in bird dropping. I have, as usual thoroughly soaked the car in water (ie the chemically challenged tap water that Scottish water pipe to us full of chlorine to counteract the sheep tat shit on the hills above the reservoirs)... then using a soft brush, I wash off the crud before it eats into the Swedish metal. However my polishing effort is clearly also wasting away as the water-beading isn't as good.
So what wax/polish should I use; or anyone got one of thay new gun licences to shoot low flying vermin...sorry I meant bombers. A neighbour who keeps pigeons tells me his pigeons don't shit whilst they are in flight as they can't do 2 things at once. The only other culprit is thus a white thing with a large yellow beak. Or do I just lay out food laced with immodium?

I could add that I did a day last week delivering frozen food to various very popular style of cuisine takeaways and having taken boxes of food into their stores (dirty floors in the main) I am amazed at how the population of Scotland has gone up this year. Maybe this is the source of the crap...or it could be Greggs which is also nearby.....do they feed seagulls as members of the RSPB?

I like the Colinite as recommended on here. Goes on nice, spreads and buffs easily and lasts :TU:

Again Collinite 476 (IIRC) ... Similar issue here in Blackpool ... while the thought of a Remington 12 bore, or a nice 22 hunting rifle is quite pleasing, the flying vermin are actually protected!!

Ian, we should be used to being shit on from a great height. We are after all governed by the SNP.

I have a similar problem at this time of the year with bloody pigeons. I don't know what they feed on in this part of Cheshire but it produces some pretty horrible sh1t.
I wax the cars with Maguires and keep a spray bottle of Maguires or Autoglym detailing spray in each car along with a couple of microfibre cloths. If one of the flying rats hits the car then I can give the splat a spray of detailer and wipe it off gently once it has soaked into the sh1t.

Collinite 915 is a glossier but less durable wax than 475S..... Great wax which I use but not the one for this applies..
Bird $hit contrary to popular belief does not burn into paint/laquer.... What happens is the Tom tit as it dries shrinks and pulls the surface with it.
The least time it’s on the surface the better. It has to go hard then shrink before the damage is done. Washed off within say 3 days no harm will occur.
Colly 476S being the most durable will lay it’s invisible coating better so is definitely the wax to use.
Plus it’s cheaper and Ian is fond of holding onto his groats......😂😂😂
