Hi
In this cold weather I think that my battery is giving up the ghost, it is quite a small battery on the petrol model 45AH 410A, but I presume that the battery compartment is big enough for the larger battery for the Diesel powered rav, if I have to replace it, is it worth getting a bigger battery or is that just false economy and would it be better to stick with the standard replacement?

Four of our RAVs have been petrol 4.2s and none of them gave any battery problems despite the battery's diminutive size. Our first '02 car went over 9 years with the original battery and I only replaced it because I just couldn't see it coping with another harsh winter even though it gave no indication of failure. I would happily replace like for like as long as the new unit was Yuasa

Hi all, Thanks for the input, A couple of things, firstly I discovered that the battery was a bit low on water especially one of the cells, Secondly I have discovered that the return spring on the brake pedal is not very strong and the weight of the hand controls I have fitted means that at the moment there is very little clearance for the brake switch and occasionally it comes on when parked up (why it still works without the ignition who knows) So this may explain the flat battery problem since topping it up and a good charging it appears to be behaving its self. Obviously I need to adjust the brake light switch when the gale force winds and rain stop. Hopefully I can do it without sitting upside down in the drivers seat head on floor feet on headrest, as was necessary for the Land rover brake switch. Dave
