Supermarket Fuel........My Last Word .......for Now.

At Costco today getting some butcher stuff for freezing. Wife went in with card wielding friend whilst me and dug went for a walk. I spied the new Fuel Station recently erected, and note that COSTCO ONLY SELL PREMIUM DIESEL. I further note that a tanker is there currently offloading, so I thought I would pick the driver's brains. The following is a true, un-embellished account of a Scottish conversation about diesel.
Me......"Excuse me mate......Supermarket Diesel.......Pish or not pish.....?"
Driver....."I drive a diesel mate, and would NOT use Supermarket diesel.....petrol aye......diesel naw."
Me....."So if there are differences, where does it happen....?"
Driver......"Aw ah can tell ye mate is each tanker fill we are given a number to punch in. Nearly all supermarkets and stations have their own numbers. When we punch in the number, the diesel AND DIFFERENT ADDITIVES come from a bank of tanks in front of me. The diesel is in a massive tank, but there are three or four "smaller" tanks which dispense whatever their number calls for that I have punched in. Dinnae ask me what the feck is in the smaller ones......we just know them as additives.......one might be called cetane or sumfin."
So......out of the mouths of babes and punters. This delivery, out of interest, was coming from Grangemouth to Costco at Springburn, Glasgow.
I would not say the driver should get a wee shot in a black leather chair and asked difficult questions, but he answered my questions honestly and with no alternative agenda. He also mentioned he used Esso diesel as a rule, as they have such a massive turnover of fuel that he would perceive it to be fresh at most times, not stored in leaky tanks.
Wee factoid......biggest retailer of fuel in UK......? Tesco.......said so on telly t'other night so must be true......?
Saul Furnoo mins........let's just wait for all the tanker driver comments, and all the folk who have had 25 cars in the last 24 years, all run on Supermarket widdle with no ADVENT affects......play on words there.....the forewenting is proof enough for me that pish fuel is indeed oot there....!!
