Yesterday, a work colleague drove me and another friend from Colchester to The N.E.C in his evoque.
It is a beautiful looking car, but he's got it on huge almost hollow wheels and thin thin tyres.
3 hours there , 3 hours back.
5 hours looking the Classic car show.
I must admit , I did not like being in that evoque one bit.
You really sit " in " it , very claustrophobic. The ride seemed harsh compared to my 4.3 And that really is saying something with my bfg's on. It looks very smart , but I'd never have one. I imagined an ultra smooth ride , but no.

did you sit front or back? I've never been in one, but they look like a 2+2 to me with that low roof line at the rear.

Jamie I really reckon you must have had an inbuilt prejudice when you went in that car.
My daughter has a 66 plate Evoque and I’ve driven it quite a bit. Sorry but it’s simply a mile ahead in every department against any of the Toyotas so far.
Seat comfort better. Ride over crap surfaces better. Suspension composure better. Interiors FAR better. Engines MILES better. Equipment better. Economy WAY better. Fit finish and quality inside FAR better.,
Looks and interior space is compromised but it’s the girls Range Rover.. To small for me I need space.
I did follow an Evoque convertible last week and wondered how far king barmy one would have to be to get one of those silly things.

RR's had a poor reputation in this area for a fairly long period starting in the 90's. A guy I worked with who come form close to Anchorman said it was great to drive but it seemed to spend more time in the garage than on the road. Hopefully this has improved, but I'd be interested in how good your daughters has been.

She does huge mileage now as her job demands. The car really is excellent. It drives really nicely with great power and a super slick gearchange. Combine this with a well damped comfortable suspension and it’s a nice combination. I can buy the car soon if I want when it comes to end of its company cycle but it’s a manual box and it’s just to small. She gets a new RR Velar next.

I hear you Charlie, but we all react in different ways to a different car ride. Yes , the finish was very nice - almost luxury to what I'm used to. Tbh... id be a little scared of damaging it. Yes I'll agree , I was prepared to put it down.... And I hoped I'd think wow what a car, but for me... nope. I just didn't enjoy it. Perhaps a RR or disco feels top notch, I guess I'll never know.

I suspect what made that specific Evokes ride so bad was the wheel and tyre combo. More than likely 24" wheels with rubber bands around them. A common thing with many folk - get an expensive Car that is designed well and destroy the ride with rediculous wheels (the fault of the manufacturer as well for offering them as an option though)
Charlie, what wheels/tyres does your daughter's Evoke have? More sensible ones I bet!

I really do use all the space in the back when on tip runs with bulk bags full of leaves or hedge cuttings, With the seats down I can get three near full bags in ... Now two things have occurred to me... Maybe when publishing the space capacity of the rear of these cars they could do it in builders bulk bags ? Makes perfick sense to I.... Tother thing is if I’m basing the suatability of a car by how much garden I can get in it I must be getting ol............................. Nah surely not ??

My sis in law bought a brand new one in 2017 within 6 months it had been more times in the garage than on the road. Yes it looks nice but other than that it’s a no for me. I found it really uncomfortable and it really played up with my back and legs. She ended up having her original one replaced by Range Rover for a new one in the end and the replacement has already been in for gearbox issues. The last what car survey had 3 models of RR in the top 20 for the most unreliable cars in the 0-3 year age group. As much as they look nice and having been in one it’s a definite no for me.

I must admit I was looking forward to sitting in the evoque as they look smart and I wanted to experience the ride.
But even after a short time I just didn't take to it.
It turned heads as we drove along, with its huge wheels & thin tyres.
It's all black too with personal plates and yellow brake callers. But it got us to Birmingham and back.
I was grateful to be invited for a loveiy day out.
