Don’t know nothing at all about these cars in fact can’t even pronounce the word. Anyway had a hospital appointment in Leeds today and we decided to get the train as parking is a nightmare. When we arrived at Leeds thought I’d use an Uber voucher and one of these turned up. I was really surprised how nice it was from inside. A seven seater and the driver said you have so many combinations and can even arrange them to make a bed. It had an Apple play head unit as standard all leather seats. The mileage was 130K + and honestly it was really smooth over the road humps. Outside it doesn’t look much and not something I would consider for us but it was a surprise on how nice it was. Now let’s see if you can pronounce Ssanyongs 😊😊

They’ve always been the runt of the 4x4 world ....sort of Skoda of the 80s ...they have come on leaps and bounds in recent years but still a bit of a joke ☹️ Guess the cab driver is getting the last laugh, cheep to buy and covered 130k without drama 🤔

didn't they have some tie up with mercedes for the mechanical side? One of my neighbours had one from around 10 years ago and rated it. Same as Dacia in many ways ... great value if you don't care about the badge - or the looks!

Sanyong is how it’s pronounced.... $hit is how I pronounce it..
Residual values are disastrous .... They don’t have a very good reputation.....
Chap by us is contemplating one of those Dacia Dusters. They in my eyes are absolutely bloody horrible awful things. But he’s focused on price so maybe he will be happy if he gets one. If I won one in a raffle I would ask for second prize..

M-B supplied the drivetrain in the past; not sure if they still do. The Ssangyong Rodius was an eyesore of a design but they were all tough as old boots. They've become better over time and now sell a respectable number of cars. If you're a badge snob then don't even look at them but for reliability and VFM, they are very, very good.

My daughter had a Sandero 3-cyl 900cc petrol. Despite the sterotype, it was a bloody impressive little car. Cheap, uber reliable and nothing fell off or broke. I have to say I was surprised and had to admit that my earlier preconceptions were completely wrong.
To be fair they ain't designed for petrolheads and they are aimed at people who really don't care about the badge but how much it costs and whether or not it is reliable. Dacia scores well in those respects bearing in mind that they are increasing their year-on-year sales with monotonous regularity. I think it was TG magazine that took a Duster across Peru a year or so back and were mightily impressed with its ability and durability.

Too many words Chuck min......get to the bliddy point will ye.....? LOL..... Partially disabled neighbour (Stroke) had a driveway flat tyre last weekend on his Dacia Dustbin thing. Me being extremely fit, mobile, etc...., offered to change the tyre for him.......lovely guy and very grateful. Thank Friar Tuck Koffs told me years ago to buy a trolley jack. Not only did I have difficulty finding the jacking point, when I did I decided against using it........the underside corrosion on a 2013 car had to be seen to be believed....!! BUT....BUT......BUT.......you should have seen the utterly superb way they, Dacia McDuster, have totally shrouded the fuel filler pipe from neck to fuel tank.......this eejit shouldah photographed it.......completely encapsulated in PVC. Could teach Toyota there........

Had a quick read and yeah they are using Mercedes drivetrains. I’m really surprised as you wouldn’t think a brand like merc would supply there drivetrain to a manufacturer like Ssangyong. There’s a mention here about using the Mercedes gearboxes.
