Ive bought a pair of these bulbs with the intention of fitting them in the front sidelights to replace the original yellow candle bulbs. The packaging states ‘not for road use’ but the question is , will it pass the MOT when it’s next due and could I expect any other complications ?

Fitted a pair to wife's YEARS ago Jase........flown four MOTs since. Fitted a pair to a friend's daughter's Renault Clio, and it was listed as one of 4/5 fail items.
Seems to be down to the diligence of the Tester, but they seem to be indeed illegal.
Wee nod if you decide to proceed.........only way to fit these wee Murraz is to peel back the wheel arch liner, which in cold temperatures is very unforgiving and sharp as a razor when stiff. Best done in a heated garage, and get yursell two bulbs for the round foglights at front........dead easy to do when wheel arch peeled back, and saves doing anurra time.

The harder to replace, the morning reason to stick with standard for an easier life. I fitted some nice LED sidelights on my camper but only took 10 minutes. Having to do what Kev describes ... I'd stick with what I had

Could you not attend the MOT waving a red flag in front and carrying a hurricane lamp? Which reminds me- if any of you have 2 matching hurricane lamps, my GG fire engine needs 2 for one of its lockers. Why the green goddess carried 2 hurricane lamps is, well, illogical to me unless they started their own fires first - jobs for the boys kinda stuff.

Well I decided to fit them , so I'll see what happens. I've had them fitted to mine for about 5 years ( same set ) and had no problems with MOT's. That's not to say that they will go through the new MOT though. I fitted them because I got them free with some Nightbreakers and the original ones looked like expiring gloworms. I reckon that they are nearly as good as DRL's

Thanks Chris , I've just been out to test them now the light is fading and they look so much better than the standard bulbs.I was thinking the same regarding drl's.

Yes I've got some battle scars but it wasn't too bad. Arms were black when I'd finished though.
