Wasn't aware that re-mapping the ECU was possible on these motors. Who did it?
www.quantumtuning.co.uk/car-remap-tuning-remapping.aspx?make=Toyota&range=Rav-4
Used this link to find my local dealer. Cost me £225. To be fair I was initially remapping in the hope for better MPG gains. Gain 1-2 mpg on average probably not enough to warrant the cost but the performance gains are great. It’s a high torque engine so removing the torque limiter with the remapping has helped release the full potential of the engine.
lindop Toyota supply a plug in box that safely alters the parameters without altering the ECU. Many of us have used them. I had one on my T180....
The lindop kit not only increases power tourque and drivability but gives a useful gain in MPG. They are also easy to remove if you sell the car. They cost about the same or slightly less than the £399 you have paid.
lindop absolutely assure us and this is backed up by some clever guys on here that the standard ECU cannot be altered safely if at all.
The T180 has had lots of engine failiurs due to carbon build up called carbon stamping . Increasing the output of the already highest output 2AD engine and not doing it absolutely safely could lead to significant problems.
The EGR valve is extremely restrictive . This according to the top techs at DNA is the cause of the engine problems. So asking that EGR to flow more without the mapping bieng absolutly perfect ..... Well you know where in heading.
