Hi I have just changed the offside rear wheel bearing, for anyone interested I thought I would report how it went.
As per the haines manual I did the following. removed rear drive shaft 4 nuts and washers the diff end then a split pin and 30mm nut the wheel end.
I did this while the car was on ramps with wheels on.
Then jacked up rear offside and supported securely.
Removed the rear wheel.
Unbolted the brake caliper and moved to one side such that it wasn't stressing the brake pipe.
Removed the disk.
Then removed the 4 nuts holding the rear hub assembly.
This is where things differed from the manual, the manual said to remove the hub assembly. Unfortunately mine was rusted solid to the backplate and wouldn't budge.
I tried removing the handbrake shoes to give me access with a cold chizel but it still wouldn't budge.
Finally I removed the handbrake cable and brake pipe from the backplate unfortunately this meant temporarily disconnecting the brake pipe from the flexable hose.
Once I had the backplate disconnected from the vehicle I could then support it and unstick the hub assembly from the backplate with a suitably sized lump hammer.
I could then start putting everything back together. Then blead the rear brake, luckily I had some brake fluid available.
