Hello. I'm curious as to what mpg other members are getting from their hybrids ? I'm getting a constant 36-37mpg figure, someway off the claimed figures which i never really expected but I was hopeful it might be nearer the 50 mpg mark .

Welcome! I don't have a hybrid so I can't answer the question directly but your economy results will depend both on your journey profile / how you drive and how you measure consumption. Generally it is safer to measure economy using a brim-to-brim calculation rather than rely on the on board computer (which folk have found gives variable results - some find it accurate others not). Honest John's real mpg quotes figures between 34.0 mpg and 49.2 mpg with an average of 42.2 mpg so you appear to be within the range of what others are achieving ...

Thanks for this Phillip, I'm well aware claimed figures are often 'pie in the sky', it's not an issue, i like the car, I've a drive up to Inverness next week so will fill it to the brim and report back.

Young Andy on here and Dave have the new fangled Hybrids. Both rate them highly both are ultra reliable so the cars must be very good. I believe it’s mostly about where the cars are driven being the most influence on MPG. I’m sure they will explain.
I have the Diesel auto and get good MPG so for me venturing into hybrids is not on plus I don’t understand them.
I knock most of my miles on a wee Toyota IQ which and I’m not sure I’ve ever mentioned this runs on fumes. Yes that’s right fumes I’m tellin thee !!

Andy definitely has the knack of squeezing every last drop out his Charlie. Mine gets between mid to high forties............if I am being sensible but too often recently I've been upsetting those smug Audi drivers sitting at traffic lights (really should know better) so it drops to low forties but puts a smile on your face. You really do need to learn the tricks of driving a hybrid and change your driving style to get the best out of it. Just backing off the throttle a bit when you are at ie 30 mph will make the ev mode kick in. Just a case of getting used to it. Just remember when in ev/battery mode even at low speed, it takes a bit more braking pressure than you would expect at T junctions or roundabouts. Well that is my experience anyway.
Enjoy.

What sort of figures do you get on your Rav auto Charlie? I know your Ago runs on fumes though 👍🏼

So very little start stop and warm ups. I haven’t checked for ages but around 33 to 36 or there abouts. If the Hybrid did say 50 and I was using my cars like I did before retiring then maybe one would be on the cards. But my mileage now is negligible so no point. Apart from that I like the drive the diesel gives and it’s relative simplicity and of course the AWD .

Probably most of the comments I've made around this are in and linked off this post: forum.rav4driversclub.com/post/3806/36 to 37 sounds low, but not unexpected if doing all short journeys from cold, plus all the other usual factors - terrain, weather, driver etc. The thing still goes through an "engine warm-up" (although being petrol, that is relatively a short time) with less use on elec power only, during that time. It tends to turn consumption on its head. Better in an urban environment. At high speed it effectively becomes a conventional petrol machine (although still with energy recovery).

Update-
Just filled mine up after using the angry pedal a bit during the last two weeks.
Dashboard readout = 44 MPG
Calculated = 383 miles divided by 8.8 gallons (40.05 litres ) = 43.52 MPG
