When the time comes to replace my Rav, the forthcoming Suzuki Jimny Sierra seems to be the closest match in terms of size. I have decided to go auto for my next car and I want 4WD, just wondering as it seems to offer what I’m looking for. Am I mad ? Just curious on others thoughts ? Thanks..... media.suzuki.co.uk/en-gb/releases/668The three door Ravs dimensions :

Well Jase, I had a Vitara three door rag top for a while about fifteen years ago after my then pristine 3 Series Touring got written off. In my experience, they [Suziki SUV's] are tough as old boots but fairly crude and basic. Ride in the back was nauseating for some but ground clearance was good. Great around the lanes and on tracks/fields etc but wearing on faster roads. May be more refined now though.

The ‘Jimny Sierra’ version with the black wheel arch extensions looks altogether a more attractive motor IMO... I was looking at the Suzuki Vitara with the 1.4 Boosterjet engine as another option , available in auto and with reasonable fuel consumption ?

In your case Jase I think there is no replacement. .... You have just what you want right in front of you ..
Your car is ultra clean. Immaculate from what I’ve seen. In the flesh gents Jases car is stunning and looks better than many cars 3 or 4 years old.
If I were you I would continue to maintain and preserve that car and drive it till it dies which is for one hell of a time yet.....
Plus it ain’t gonna cost yer a new motor that you don’t need. Coming from someone whose had literally hundreds of cars and lost countless coin that’s saying something.
Look at it this way.
4 years ago Jase had a 3 door. It was worth at a guess say 5 K today it’s still worth about the same.
Charlie 4 years ago spent 25K on his car and today it’s worth about 12K..........
As those tits from Dacia say. You do dee. maffs me auld mucker .
Oh. And them Suzuki’s are crap mate they just are.

Many years since I was in wan a work colleague had bought, Jase. It was playing a Billy Joel CASSETTE very loud at the time, but the music was drowned oot by the engine screaming its boobs off. If ye went over a 50p you could tell if it was heads or tails. On the plus side, the solid suspension helped cure ma haemorrhoids......ah coughed them up.
Bearing in mind this was about 20 years ago, one would hope that its roughness has been addressed, or at least ear defenders became standard issue.
Agree with Chickly Fickly.......stick with ye devil ye know.......or have a weekend test drive of it.

As a 2004 model, in good condition then its got 10 years left in it. My 2 are both 1994 3 doors. The one I bought new; aside of the mechanical changes made still has the original gearbox, and other bits but the bodywork is beyond repair thanks to the salty roads here and my lack of washing the underside. The 2nd RAV has good bodywork apart from rust above the arch on both rear wings, but solid. Well it was until a local twat left his handbrake off.... now swapping the rear offside wishbone/trailing arm/etc from number 1 to number 2. OK - number 2 has also a 3sgte conversion and is on its 5th gearbox I think. Original diff. 125,000 miles. The car came from London when I bought it over 10 years ago and its amazing how little rust is underneath. Then number 3 - a 5 door 2001 vvti with a nice engine; gearbox ok and a whining diff with 80,000 miles on the clock and its showing a lot of rust underneath having been up in Aberdeen. I'll not be keeping it. The trick with RAVs seems to be to buy one from down south of watford! I bought a Mits ASX 2016 model and sold it in May.... nice car but had hoped to stay with number 2 RAV. Hindsight ....probably made right decision as I wasn't comfortable with its behaviour on corners as the rear was not as sure as the RAVs I'm used to.
Suzuki ? No idea other than seen them doing off-road stuff well.

That's a lovely looking RAV, Jase, and it will make someone very happy. Some will say that it is too expensive for a 2004/5 vehicle but, as I've said before, the market will decide the value. I loved all of our 4.2's, all but one of which were autos. The 4.2 autobox is sublime even though it does mean increased fuel consumption. But the 2.0 L petrol engine is a peach and is virtually bullet-proof with chain cams to boot. How I wish I'd never sold our original 02 five-door .

Well it's D day for our Rav tomorrow Jase as the assessors coming out to view the damage so we have been looking at alternatives in case the worse does happen but like you what do we go for and if they are using any excuse to write older cars off due to very minor damage is it worth buying an older car now. Mrs P loves her Rav and will be gutted if it is wrote off but looking at the price of the Rav you've linked too there might be hope if the prices are going up for well looked after models :TU:
