Almost in tears. My number 1 RAV has been away for months whilst the garage transplants its engine and good bits into a newer bodyshell.
Yesterday whilst I was out a neighbour parked his car 200 feet along the road- a slight incline and across the road. And either forgot to put his handbrake on or it slipped. Either way, rear offside wheel now got a 3" toe-in and cambered too. Driver door sporting scrapes. Just after getting the valve guide seals replaced! Guy said (think he expects) to put it throughinsurance. With the car 24 years old, I'd guess they'd write it off and I might get £1000- less than the value of the turbo engine. So I had it carted off to Motherwell garage who will report the damange back to me...hoping its just lower suspension arm knackered but not confident.
Can I fit a 3SGTE turbo engine onto a gearbox of the 2001 RAV I got as a runabout? Are the gearboxes the same for the 3SFE and the vvti engines???
Sad also as the guy lost his mother to a guy speeding as she crossed the road nearby knocked her down....well, up in the air first. Guess his mind will not be all there.

Hell Bothy - I've always regarded your RAV(s) as the mascot of this group. Charlie's course of action is exactly what needs to happen. If the worsed happens and it is not repairable, put the engine in your Fire Engine, you never know the Fire Service might order a production run from you

When our 4.2 was written off they said we couldn’t buy it back that was with Toyota insurance. They paid out and a few weeks later it was up for sale on a breakers website which was really annoying. It sold for wait for it.............just under £300 I would’ve happily paid that as it’s identicla to the 4.2 we have now.

The car is still yours it's not a case of you buying it from them add you can't buy something you already own. It's just their company policy not make a discount & leave the car worth you. Unless it specifically states that in your policy
