Ok, out in the car today in the blazing English sun, planned to put the drinks bottle in the glovebox to keep it cool, so air con in the car on, freezing cold air, turned the knob in the glovebox clockwise and was expecting some of the cool air con air to come out, but nothing.....any ideas ?
The air con coming out of the vents etc is icey cold and was serviced by Mr T about 5 months ago.
Am I doing something wrong ?

I might be wrong here, but does opening the glovebox cut off the air stream to the outlet? It seems to on my 4.3. It appears that the glovebox has to be in the closed position for the outlet inside the glovebox to line up with the air outlet behind the glovebox. Have you got a thermometer that you can put in the glovebox to check the ionternal temperature?

Ah, that sounds plausible, I'll give it a try.
However, I'm pretty sure that the temperature on the way back today did not change with the glovebox closed, but I'll give it a try.
It's not a deal breaker and will hardly ever use this option, but it sure would have been appreciated today !!

Which 4.3 models had this, I've never heard of it before, would have thought our XT5 should though?

I expect it's mine which is the SR model after the one you mention.

Most models have it up from the old XT-3. Quite right Chris, the pipe to the glove box is fixed and you close the glove box back onto the open end. It’s clearly visible of you pop the glove box off to change the cabin filter. It’s not exactly a typhoon that blows through but it’s enough for the tiny glove box volume.

I suspect that ours are identical ( XT5's ) In the glove box there is a rotary "valve" on the air supply mounted on the rear panel. It appears to be a couple of 12mm ( ish ) holes used as a simple hit-and-miss ventilator.

You'll get into trouble if you get caught moving anything! If I do mine it will be a skip hire job.

Tested this again this morning and it does indeed work.
Wont keep drinks freezing cold, but chilled and is better than nothing.
Cheers.
