In 40 years of driving I've never seen this before. I've googled and others have remarked on the same but not found out what it is. It is a thin plastic/paper label? about 25 mm long and 6 mm wide where the tyre meets the wheel so (I'm guessing) all of what is attached to it cannot be pulled out. Your thoughts please.... It is bugging me.

My guess is it's a small label of some kind that was on the tyre bead when fitted and it has now worked it's way out.

Pretty poor tyre fitting to leave a label in the sealing area, do you know who fitted the tyres? I guess the problem could be solved by unseating the tyre on the affected side and removing the label. It shouldn't need rebalancing and it's about 10 minutes work for a tyre fitter.

It's several years ago since all 5 tyres were changed. I'll go to the local tyre place hopefully tomorrow and get them to have a look. Thanks as usual guys.

Definitely labels on the new tyre rim/bead. Was at local tyre fitters yesterday and had to wait whilst an almost new tyre was replaced owing to a pinprick puncture dead on the shoulder. Had a good gander at the new tyres stacked up and some had no labels, others one or two and a few had three of them, all just on the inner edge. I guess the barcodes are used for identification and stock control.
