After trying all the usual tricks to keep the sun visors up, I have reverted to the Velcro route again, all previous attempts with Velcro failed as the Velcro surprisingly would stick to the flock roof lining but not the visor its self and I was only using a disk about the size of a 2p But his time I have tried this 3M product, www.amazon.co.uk/3M-COMPANY-Outdoor-Fasteners-Clear/dp/B00I0GSG2KIt is a exterior heavy duty Velcro, and used the whole strip, it I have been using it for over a week now and because of its neutral colour I don't think that it looks too bad. The only disadvantage I have found is that because it is a heavy duty hook to hook type Velcro you do have to push the visor home quite firmly to get it to lock. I will let you know how it goes.

Nice job widge. :TU: I had the same issue on mine as did Paulus, it was well documented on the old forum. In the end I bit the bullet and bought a new visor but not paying the extortionate Toyota price for the genuine article , I instead opted for the genuine Toyota version minus the illuminated vanity mirror at a substantial cost saving. Still not cheap though but worth it in my opinion..

I’ve just looked and I think I payed in the region of £50 for the new visor, compared to the illuminated mirror version which if I remember correctly was over £150.....

What part actually fails?

It’s the ‘detent’ to hold the mirror in the up or forward position, the mirror just goes ‘floppy’..

Hoovie, the only thing with your kind offer of the bracket, especially with mine in particular was that the visor was useless eventually even when folded down as it used to just hang there, you couldn't even push it forwards against the windscreen..

Glad you got the visor sorted Jase and good to see that it works ok :TU: We went through all the bother with the Velcro but it just wasn't a long term solution and after trying to repair the old visor which was a waste of time and looking every day on ebay for a second hand one, and trying loads of scrap yards all over the country we bit the bullet and went and bought a brand new one from John which was near the £300 mark if I remember which is a ridiculous price but without one was proving dangerous. Then low and behold a few weeks later I found a post on another forum saying that the one Jase has would do the job at a much lower price But now the passenger visor is starting to drop on our Rav but they seemed plentiful second hand whether they'll be any good is another matter??

Just an update on the Velcro pads that I have been using.
Although they worked well initially, they are now getting less effective, surprisingly the sticky is surviving fairly well, but the Velcro is not locking together as well as it was, maybe it the hot weather we have been having.

No I tried all sorts on Mrs Ps failed visor even taking the visor apart to no avail so in the end Mrs P bit the bullet and bought a new genuine visor think it was nearer the £300 Jase as she was keeping the Rav. I did take photos of the visor when it was apart but they are all on Photobucket which i'm not paying for so have lost all my images on there.
