Hello all !
I'm in a conundrum, my Mitsubishi runs out of warranty in June. I like it , but I've now heard of Cvt auto gearbox issues from several in the UK ( through our fb group )
I've still looked at Rav4's to replace it , up to say 5 years old.
I still want 4wd or awd , and the hybrid will do better mpg than the mitsi.

All cars have something thats not quite right. Mate of mine is looking for an SUV type car and everything he likes has issues. The best of the bunch is the Rav4 but he doesn't like the interiors or the price. Just because your car has a few internet reported issues doesn't mean your car will. Many dont even bother to maintain their cars let alone carry out gearbox oil changes so its hardly surprising there are problems with any car ..

Can you extend the MMC factory warranty on your car? That would give peace of mind to keep it. 👍

Thanks Charlie Some good points there, like I say - I still like its querky design and smooth drive. And mines only done 32k miles, plenty more to enjoy.

I'd considered the Mitsi. Had 2 test drives. But put off as I intended to drive into rural south of France and was concerned the natives would know nothing about hybrid electric cars, plus the life span of the CVT seemed iffy. Bought an Audi Q7 and the car is now sat on my drive, SORNd, until my claim against the garage goes to court next month. It's been off the road for 4 months almost. Nice car but just never looked after properly and the dealer told lies. So I bought a multi-hinge 2007 Rav, put new back brakes on, a service and it's no problem.

I just had a quick look on Autotrader - if you were looking to replace your 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse cross 3, 4wd cvt auto with a RAV 4.5 HEV (AWD) from between 2019 and 2021 and at less than 30,000 miles, Autotrader would expect you to pay between £21,500 and £32,500. I haven't driven an Eclipse and am very happy with my RAV4, but, if you are 'happy' to be spending that sort of money, you might want to test drive the RAV to see whether you think the upgrade would be worth it!
