Right, it's about time I finally get round to fitting a TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitor System) to my Rav4.2 I was thinking about this Fleabay item:
But to be difficult, I want to "adjust" (I guess I mean break...) the display out to fit into/into one of these 4 panels just below the ashtray: What are these small panel-things called? So that I know what I have to find when I inevitably break that too. I'm sure I've read this before here somewhere, but I've not been able to find it. Or alternatively, does anyone know a part that will fit straight in?

I bought this TPMS System for my RAV4.2 (the one that had the Exhaust you bought): TPMS by David, on Flickr It was actually described as being for a Toyota. I think that i sby virtue of the size of the Display. It would be a good fit in a switch blank position. this is a close up of the display display by David, on Flickr Because I decided to sell the RAV4 before installing this, I actually fitted it to my VW Camper instead - these have similar size Switch Blanks. Worked very well. I'll see if I can find a photo tomorrow on the other computer. The internal sensors are actually better then the screw-in ones, but need to be professionally installed. Charges will vary - I actually paid the Tyre Dealer just £10 to have the 4 sensors retro-installed and wheels rebalanced! (they did it as a favour as it was my own vehicle - we used to put work each others way). I'd guess usually maybe £50? EDIT: This is a cached photo of the display in my VW The Display looks very small but in actual use it is fine - the numbers cycle between pressure and temperature. I would fit the same again. This is a similar unit ... www.aliexpress.com/item/CAREUD-TPMS-U912-Monitor-for-Nissan-Mazda-Toyota-Honda-Tire-Pressure-Monitor-System-Used-for-Monitor/32851904340.html?ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_1_10152_10151_10065_10344_10068_10342_10325_10343_10546_10340_10548_10341_10084_10083_10618_10307_10135_10133_5711211_10313_10059_10534_100031_10103_10627_10626_10624_10623_10622_5722411_10621_10620_10811_5711311,searchweb201603_25,ppcSwitch_5&algo_expid=532baaf1-8c96-4e54-b122-0f173e27c104-9&algo_pvid=532baaf1-8c96-4e54-b122-0f173e27c104&transAbTest=ae803_5&priceBeautifyAB=0 (note the link above is just a display - it doesn't include sensors. Added it so you can compare dimensions)

That ashtray panel comes out if you want to modify it...pull out astray out and you’ll see a screw above ...undo and firmly pull panel 👍🏻

It's patently obvious when you put it like that. Thanks

FWIW, This is the ORANGE (aka TyreSure) TPMS display mounted on the Ashtray in my 2005 4.2 Great way to mount and avoiding drilling mount holes. RAV4.2-TPMS by David, on Flickr The Orange TPMS was one of my favourite TPMS systems, but tended to move towards smaller displays now. Alternative Mounting Location: Same Orange TPMS system, this time mounted on Velcro above the Rear View Mirror on my 2011 4.3 TPMS-Display by David, on Flickr The top Inset photo is showing the temperature; the lower inset photo is showing something I cannot remember! Final Picture: The "Toyota" TPMS Display as mentioned earlier, installed on my VW T4 Campervan. T4 Dash by David, on Flickr This picture is quite interesting in a way as shows the kind of adapation it is easy to do ... There were originally a row of 5 Switch Blanlks, and only one used. Added a Switch to one blank to control the radio so I can have the radio come on without the keys when camping; next one added a USB Port for the Radio; next to the that is the TPMS; then the Heated Rear Window (original switch) and finally a Hazard Light from a VW Passat relocated from a large "Commerical" Hazard Switch in the area above, into which I then fitted a Turbo Boost Gauge. Below the Switches is a Sat Nav fitted onto the Ashtray and a coin tray. Below the radio was a cubby in which I made a housing for a pair of dual USB Sockets, plus a pair of Battery Voltmeters (one for Starter, one for Leisure). So standard Dash Area, 'repurposed' extensively and pretty easily. Depends if you like to keep a 100% OEM look I guess
