The 2023 F1 season is here again, the Bahrain Grand Prix Friday Practice session starts live at 11am. So much positive/negative chat on F1 forums and Facebook groups 🙄, bottom line is nobody knows the cars speed/reliability until they hit the track today . For me I just hope more teams/drivers are competitive at the front end . There are 3 rookie drivers which could turn out to be brilliant or just mobile Chicanes..time will tell 👍🏻

I watch on NOW TV but pay monthly because I like watching the practice sessions, qualifying as well as the sprint and races. I also watch the golf majors. The day pass would work out too expensive for me. You can often get a discounted rate on the monthly pass.

I am in a slight quadrary with watching F1 this year. Last Year I watched on Sky as had Sky Sports but didn't have a great enthusiasm for it as I really don't like Verstappen, so the actual interest in many races was limited. Don't have Sky Sports any more so would be Channel 4 highlights. But I dislike watching/listening to Steve Jones even more than Verstappen and Eddie Jordan does my head in as well. Do I put up with the C4 Highlights, avoiding the Jones Pre and Postambles? or sign up to the Sky F1 "special" at £15/month so I can watch and record the races and skip the bits that a boring? least can watch all the various sessions ans live that way. As an aside, I enjoy watching Formula E on Channel 4 and the C4 Presenting Team for that is entertaining to watch. Vernon Kay is an excellent front man, Radzi (new for this gear) is his usual good self doing driver interviews and they have Naomi Schiff coming in, who is pretty good as well. Shame they don't do a F1 <=> FE swap

David what I’ve done in the past is sign into my Now TV account, then press I want to cancel my deal, after 2 refusals and no more , they should offer you a better deal. I’ve done it many times but no more than 2 refusals 👍🏻

I pay £4 each for NOW cinema and entertainment which I am happy with but I bet someone will be paying less! Hopefully I'll get a better deal on Sport later in the year.

I've been watching Jodie Kidd on her Youtube channel...interesting stuff on lots of fast cars and F1. As far as watching F1, I've not tried but sure I will find it on my Scottish stick with a Taiwanese commentary.

There is a channel called "Sky Showcase" which is part of Skys standard entertainment package. The qualifying highlights were shown on that yesterday and the race highlights package is being shown on it today from 6:30PM. So around 2 1/2 hours before Channel 4 AND no Steve Jones. Winner-Winner Chicken Dinner However ... I don't know if that will be the case for every race. It could be just the season opener to get people in? Also ... I just remembered when I tuned to the Sky Sports Channel (just in case it was accidently still active for me it wasn't ) that I always enjoyed the F2 series racing as much as F1 and without the Sky Sports or F1 subscription missing out on that completely Alonso has grown on me as he has matured. Good for sure. Speaking of F2, there are a couple of rookie drivers moved over from F2 to F1 this year which will be interesting to watch (Sargent and Piastri) plus Nick de Vries who looks fast and Hulkenburg who surely deserves a bit of a break with a decent car! So some fresh blood (with a vintage addition) which will make the midfield exciting hopefully. I might just sign up before 3PM today as I am talking myself into it above so may as well be sooner rather than later! (I did get a nice Premium Bond prize this month as well so that can pay for it )

Excellent news! ... why couldn't you have told me yesterday then I could have watched qualifying too! I have now got BT TV - 'cos it is a well packaged, single device, solution that gives me Netflix and more for little more than I was paying for Netflix anyway. "Sky Showcase" is one of the 'freebies' with Now Entertainment which is included in the standard package ...

I suspect it will be just an occassional thing to be shown there, but never know All this talk about Sky reminded me also that I have Sky Cinema to cancel as that price bounced up after I cancelled Sky Sports last December. Called Sky (you can buy on-line but cannot cancel on-line ) to cancel Cinema and tell them I am thinking of getting Sky F1 and what will they offer if I have both .... All very confusing as I get a discount off Sky Signature (so similar to Now Entertainment) by having Cinema, so lose that benefit. and then this changes and that changes and all gets very confusing. End Result around 60 minutes of discussion later is I kept all the same packages, added Sky Sports F1 and overall bill gone up by £2.00, but I have recontracted the Sky Signature (not Sports) for an extra 12 months from the end of current contract. (Sky is not cheap, but the way I look at it is I don't smoke, don't go to pubs or drink much and I enjoy watching TV so overall happy enough to pay for my vice).
