My front tyres are getting close to being replaced. i have kept with the geolander g91av when replacing previously. should i stick with the geolanders or time for a change. the matching rears are still very decent and don't need replacing. I've not been unhappy with the geo just interested in others views.

The G91AVs are summer tyres. All season or cold weather tyres would serve better in the winter months. But if you are happy with the performance of the G91AVs in the winter or don't need to go out in more adverse conditions, and are happy with the G91AVs overall, the most cost effective option is to get another pair of G91AVs.
Some of us insist on having tyres that can better cope with the winter cold. I used to run two sets - summer and winter rubber - but now am very happy with proper all season tyres - i.e. tyres that are certified for cold weather use. My tyre of choice is the Michelin Cross Climate but there is now quite a wide choice available - pretty much all of the manufacturers now have an offering in this space. But it would require investment in four new tyres. I would, but whether that is something that you want to do is entirely up to you.

Contrary to some views on the forum, I have always found Bridgestone Duellers very good on all our RAVs up until our current 4.5 that is shod with Bridgestone Alenzas. I’d not come across these before but they seem to be very good: quiet, good wear so far and no grip/handling issues. Having said that, I will replace them with all-season tyres when the time comes or perhaps Uniroyal Rainsports that I used on a Saab 9.3 AWD that were very impressive.

I prefer Falken. They served me well on numbers 1 & 2 RAVs. Number whatever 3 door has Falkens now too.

the rear tyres have over 6mm left so i think as I've coped with Geolanders i'll stick with them. Blackcircles £243 for the two. in the ten years of ownership we've managed with the snow we get in the South. I live a few metres from a bus route and main roads are well connected. i did think initially of putting a different brand on the front and then match when the rears were worn . difficult to justify oner £500 for four new tyres.
i Broke a crown and had the root canal and temp tooth fitted last week so that enough pain for now. £280. lucky to have an NHS dentist at the mo though so i can't complain.

Went with geolanders too. Found Asda to be the cheapest.

For what it’s worth, I still use cold weather tyres all year round. Gets cauld and wet in these Highlands, then the winter comes. Twa years ago I put two Nokian WR tyres on the front, with Yokohama Blue Earth winter spec tyres on the rear driving wheels of the Jagwah. My point…..the Jag is a big fast momo car, and both these tyre manufacturers were recommended by Jag drivers on a Forum. Buy and try with confidence….very guid indeed on both. Pity Nokians did not do rear size, hence the Hokoyamas.
Edit…..Bothy now has Nokian winter tyres on his most recent Rav, the one with multiple hinges. They perform great on that car and wear very well.

Now I have not so dedicated all season tyres. 👍👍 |
