I have now got the Rav in the garage prepping it to wax it but i seem to have a lot of white dried wax showing in between the rubber seals around the wheel arches, so what is the best way to get it all off without causing any scratches?

Paul did the bodyshops remove the panels that have seals before painting ?

I don't know what they did Charlie but the white wax is actually on the rubber seals and behind them on the front ones, i think it's from the waterless wash i used a while back?

Your going to have to be very careful if they’ve either masked the seals off or they may have painted them. Obviously I cant see what you can, Try some warm soapy water on a cotton bud stick. Gently try and remove the contamination whatever it is. Don’t use anything blunt in case you start removing paint, As I say I can’t see what you can, Your bodyshops should have removed the plastic arches and painted them separately from the panels. If they have done they would have polished those arches and the panels before refitting the arches to the car inserting the seals as they went. Edit. Paul wax doesn't go white that’s polish.

I found polish residue could disappear by simply switching off the light in the garage. However, I don't have a garage now so thats no longer a solution.
I haven't applied much polish to my new 2002 RAV yet...I did some panels that did not get painted and realise that I probably need to entice BigKev down to machine polish the whole car as my effort to polish the bonnet (by hand) still left it feeling slightly rough. Thankfully, this car has few plastic panels - ie no wheel arch extensions which are a horrendous cause of rusty wings. I haven't attempted to polish the panels that were sprayed 4 months ago.
So no great ideas on solutions from me then, other than to try a large brandy !

There is no paint on the rubber seals Charlie just the white residue of whatever it is. I tried washing it off when i washed it with the car shampoo, so should i try summat stronger like a weak solution of washing up liquid and warm water?

I wouldn’t put IPA near fresh paint. Nor fairy liquid which is full of nasties including salt. It’s almost certainly polish given Paul’s info so a soft paint brush with warm water and a bit of car shampoo should sort it. If it’s stubborn use a cotton bud stick but go easy. The paint brush should shift it as it hasn’t been there long. 👍👍👍

When I read the subject title, my first reaction was bite down hard on a piece of wood, grab the wax and tear it off as quick as possible, but i think I might have misunderstood.😫

Well it is all done and i managed to get most of the white residue off and i used some back to Black on them and other rubber and plastic parts which seemed to help a lot. Then Mrs P had to take over with the waxing of the Rav and i just buffed it all up. The roof is worse than i thought and that could do with respraying to be honest, it must be the new LED baton lights i have in the garage now making things easier to see, or just showing up the worse bits now  We both also noticed some tiny little bits in the new paintwork on the bonnet and door so is it worth bothering to tell the body shop about those? Overall though very pleased with how it's turned out and Mrs P has fell in love with RAV No4 again :TU: Once again thank you for all the advice :TU:

puts me to shame that does. I'm going out at first light (11.42am) to give the car a wash. And clean the inside of the windaes as it's getting difficult to see oot. And afore the wife gets up as she'll want me tae polish the hoose windaes tae !!
