Hi Team , Just wondering who uses tyre dressing and for those that do , what brands would you recommend ? I generally do as I feel it finishes off the detailed car. I only ask as I was told by a tyre fitter when I took the Rav for tyres , that tyre dressing can cause the sidewalls to crack ? And I did notice evidence of this on tyres that weren't old..

Never use it.Always looks synthetic to me. Never heard of it degrading tyres but maybe that’s because I don’t use it. I prefer just to scrub the tyres up or like this time of the year where I don’t touch the cars I just foam power wash 👍

As I understand, tyres age and crack due to the effects of sunlight / UV. A water based tyre dressing that includes UV filters (i.e. sunblock) will probably prolong the life of tyre sidewalls. A solvent based tyre dressing may well have the opposite effect ...

You’re spot on jase about tyre cracking. When I working at the garage the Pirelli tyre Rep came in one day, he said never use a tyres dressing as it dries the side walls. The oils in the rubber come to the surface to keep the tyres supple, a dressing dries it out quicker. I use a water based dressing on tyres and anything matt black ..forgot the name, will get a photo of the bottle if and when it stops raining 👍🏻

That’s the stuff I use on interior plastics. Dilute to suit the finish your after. Weak = less sheen etc. very good product. I tend not to use many products now. Most things are packaged to get us to buy. My car doesn't look the worse for the lack of often expensive kit. 👍👍
