I'd the rear brake discs, pads and shoes replaced a couple of months ago. Perhaps coincidence, but since then I am getting an intermittent clickingnoise for the rear nearside wheel area. The garage stripped the brake down and found nothing. We agreed to wait until it gets worse.
The noise / clicks relate directly to the speed of the car, disappears when I apply the footbrake, and sometimes doesn't click at all.
Anybody got any ideas on what the cause may be.
We did find a slight movement in the CV joint from the main prop attached to the rear diff. But I'm confused as the noise disappears if I apply the footbrake even gently.
The rear brake caliper was found to be working ok and no sign of anything rubbing.

Ian, I had similar symptoms on mine and it turned out to be the handbrake cable. Where the cable goes through the backplate into the drum, the cable has a cast aluminium end on the outer cable. This had corroded and caused the problem. I changed both cables myself and it was instantly cured.
