Must be something not right? On strat from cold, the 2.0 vvti petrol starts first time and runs at 1600rpm. Once the engine is at working temp, it ticks over at 650-700rpm smoothly.
Is the fast revs normal on this engine ?
Its got air conditioning so I wondered if that caused the high revs initially??

Remembering all the 4.2 VVTi’s we’ve had over the years, that sounds about right. 👍

Sounds like the IAC - idle air control valve - had similar on the MR2.
Good clean with some carb cleaner and all ok again.

Yes mine has high idle for a short time, then returns to around 750rpm warm/hot 👍🏻 Just don’t set out in the snow at 1600rpm…it will run away with you 😉😉
