Hi
I do not have the moulded spare wheel cover, and the cover i have is disintegrating, It looks like the standard moulded cover also has a backing plate behind the wheel, is this necessary to fix the cover to or does the cover just clamp round the wheel somehow?
I am looking at some second hand ones and want to make sure that I get all the necessary parts.

It is a very odd fitting arrangement the first time you try it but it does work with patience. Once you’ve got it seated correctly, there’s a suitcase style toggle clamp at the bottom that secures the cover to the backing plate. You can also fit a small padlock to it to improve security.

There are many types of stretchy cover that look good on the market , some do customised logo or designs. As said above the standard cover has a backing plastic part that fixes to the metal frame. If you still have that back part of the cover ,you will see some slots at the top. Front cover hangs on them and clamps at the bottom.
