I did this for the first time in 56 years of driving when I test drove my latest RAV4 3rd generation model. Didn’t do it once in my old 1999 model. I wondered why. I drive most often my wife’s Honda Jazz. Taking a close look at both cars I noted that the Honda accelerator is lower than the brake pedal with a gap of 8cm. The RAV accelerator is a little higher and has a 6cm gap. Obviously when I braked on the test drive I didn’t move my foot across enough. It disturbed me at the time but once I understood what happened and the differences between the two cars I realise I need to adjust my foot movements for the car I’m driving. I have seen this issue being discussed on Toyota and other forums. I’m not alone in my experiences. Just thought I’d share this.

Interesting  . Not seen this ever mentioned here (or on our Archive forum at www.tapatalk.com/groups/rav4driversclub/ ) - that I recall anyway. You would logically expect this to be more of an issue on a Jazz then a RAV4, being the smaller car |

I have a pair of walking boots which can cause me to do exactly the same thing, and at traffic lights, foot on brake and these big boots on, and remember my car is a nottymatic.........kept the bowel movement in check, just..........never reported for fear of Forumnial Slaggification. I am now very careful of my foot positionment.

I occasionally catch the brake rather than the accelerator: especially if I have big shoes on!
I thought I might have my heel too far left.

I had a 1962 Ford Popular in about 1973 which did the same with the windscreen wipers but they would actually stop when accelerating to go past something uphill - quite interesting at times, having to lift briefly to see if anything was close! I think mine cost £50 and I sold some years later for £25. Good photo of your car - better shape than mine! on my iPad it is easy to upload photos using the Upload Image to IMGbb icon at the top of the page and then create post  |

There is no share button on my Flickr even for public photos. OK, I'm working on a Windows PC so if you are not things might be a bit different but to try to clarify by way of a pictorial guide ... You click to share the image as 'ringed' in red towards the bottom right:  You then don't use the Share tab (ringed):  but instead use the BBCode tab:  and copy and paste the BBCode link into your post. Does this help to clarify? |

I’m an Apple user. My Flickr seems entirely different to what I’ve seen here. There is no share option. All I can do is to generate a url link. When I post that into the box that pops up here all I produce is this:  So I post the link like this and if you click on it you see the photo which happens to be my garden yesterday. flic.kr/p/F8JFreI will stick with this until I can find the will to crack it the correct way. |
