Hi, I have been looking at what camper forums are about, mainly to be able to get technical help on the Ducato base, but obviously lots of other subjects, So far I have tried motorhomefun.co.uk there are some reasonable threads, but you cannot interact or post anything without paying a subscription, but unfortunately lots of discussion on how to break rules, how to try and get around the 90 day Schengen rules for staying in Europe (which you cannot), getting pet passports in European countries rather than the UK, how to con garages in Europe that you have a genuine refillable LPG tank when in fact you don't, yes we probably all bend the rules to different degrees, but things like the LPG refilling sound positively dangerous. But it wasn't just the topics, some of these people seem to revel in the challenge of getting away with it, but maybe I am just being a bit of a kill joy.
Currently, I am looking at Forums.motorhomefacts.com you have 6 opportunities to comment or post a thread, but then you have to subscribe, it is a bit more international and the tone of the threads is a lot better I have also found some good technical threads for the Ducato, there are a few political posts pros/cons of Brexit etc, but they seem to be in the minority.
But I was just wondering if anyone can suggest others that might be worth a look.

There is Motorhome builder which Hoovie is there as well... Not sure about you specific question but lots of knowledge there. I also found on FB a specific group for VW Crafters 2017 onwards which is very helpful for specifics (if you ignor all once that are after pimping their Crafter...), So maybe look for a group related to your van.
Just a few suggestions.

Of the ones I have used .... Motorhomefun : have to pay a sub to do more than 5 posts. I am a member there, but my sub just expired and TBH I am kinda relieved. It is a rather cliquey forum and if you don't tow the "funster" party line, you get sniped at. I would agree with your summary of it as well. Fun? there are 'funner' places to be! On the plus side, it is a busy forum and it is quite likely that someone will have an answer to most questions motorhome related. I am toying with re-subscribing but trying not to as to many on there wind me up! Motorhomefacts : Also referred to as MHF. Never been there but what I have noticed is that quite a few people on the forums I do use refer to themselves as refugees or outcasts from MHF. I find that a bit offputting, bit you do get odd folk on all forums. Outandaboutlive.co.uk : Not one I have got round to trying, but could be worth looking at. Think it is an offshot from a Motorhome Magazine publisher? The ones I actively use .... Motorhomebuilder.com : This is the one mentioned by Mbt2 and which we are both members of. generally focused on self-builds and improvements, but no reason why you can't have a ready-made one and be a member. No fee for joining and to use all the features. Motorhomer.com : This is a pretty friendly forum. You can join and post away as much as you like without subscribing and paying a fee. To use some of the features such as messaging you would need to pay an annual sub (not sure how much) but at least you will have an idea if you like the forum before paying a sub wildcamping.co.uk : Similar to above but supposedly more focussed to wild camping rather than camp sites, but you do get people just posting identical questions on both. As with Motorhomer, can use as a free member, but to privte message have to be a subscriber. The three forums above are all owned and run by the same person, who is an avid motorhome user (has a nice Ducato based Hymer). There are of course Facebook groups and I am a member of an Autotrail group, but as regards getting any kind of Technical help, I find Facebook group members on average will provide a great deal more incorrect advice then useful

Hi hoovie, thanks for the info i will check them out. As far as doing own builds, a year or so ago my stepson started a company doing own builds for people who are not up to doing there own, they started with a couple of their own van conversions and sold them, now they are mainly doing commissions for people. Here is their website if you want to have a look. www.rebelliondesigns.co.uk, i haven't seen any in the flesh myself but i have seen Marks carpentry before and been impressed, he us also a good all-rounder and has some creative ideas, some of the vans are not to my taste, but it isn't me buying one, but i can see that he has put a lot of effort into trying to make a good product.
