My experience of having the C-HR is that as we mainly have a lot of hills around here I was getting around 43-45mpg but the old 4.3 was doing slightly less and now that I’m driving my sisters old Yaris diesel I’m not going to complain I’m getting around 53mpg for the same trips. The only downside with the Yaris being trips to Brum now mean paying the bloody CAZ charge of £8. Personally I’m still hunting for a diesel Rav 4 again however still not come across a decent one 😬

I think the I-Pace is probably one of the coolest looking cars on the road right now. But its reliability is absolutely appalling. Completely irrelevant Jim 85K is stupid …… True, it’s a stupid price, especially when you can buy an equivalent MB or Audi BEV for something like half that price. But all manufacturers are making hay while the sun shines at this early stage in the EV “revolution”. There’s lots of early adopters within society’s so-called “elite” who have more money than sense and even less knowledge of what they’re buying - as long as it’s the newest and shiniest product and it burnishes their environmental credentials on Twitter, that’s all that matters. Meanwhile the ordinary folks have to put up with the stupid prices, if they really want a BEV, or wait until increasing competition drives prices down, which it will. JLR however are currently pushing their prices up as much as possible and reducing dealer incentives in order to try and eliminate discounting thereby maximising their income. This is driven by their ongoing losses that show no sign of improving anytime soon. It’s a pity because Jag especially has an illustrious history having produced some brilliant vehicles over the years. But given their relatively niche profile in the industry (they produce a fraction of MB or BMW’s output) I’d be surprised if they’re still around in 10 years. At best Tata may cut their losses and sell them to the Chinese. ☹️

Course I pointed out he can’t be that skint if he can buy a brand new 85K Jag. I know I’ve said it before but I don’t think it’s the right time for me at least to whack 40 odd grand into a hybrid RAV4 plug in or not. It would not nor never could pay its way. If high 50s or low 60 MPG was on the cards maybe I would but 7 or 8 MPG extra doesent cut for me. Ash says his CHR does 44 which my daughter couldn’t achieve with the long term loan CHR she had. After running round in a top spec Evoque she hated the thing anyway.
