I know this is no surprise to anyone !! And the price of my Rav has lost about £1,300 in about a month ! I'm assuming it's the same with most diesel vehicles.
I use WBAC as a very loose guideline, just to keep a eye on values. I'd never give my Rav to them unless I was desperate, but they are better than a dealer trade in.
The timing of this could not be worse for me, because I am really looking at buying a new car this year (very soon).
I have researched the new Toyota Aygo X and it ticks all the boxes. We just don't need to drive a 2 tonne car around anymore, we just don't need the rear passenger and boot space either.
I test drive the Aygo X (auto) on Saturday.
So in the next few weeks, I'll be putting my lovely Rav on Autotrader. I'll be taking my time when constructing the cars features and description, but I'm just not going to get a good price, but I have decided, it's time to part company.
I'm in no rush to sell it when buying the new car, so I'm just wondering if its worth sticking it in my garage until the diesel "issues" settle down ?
But the lucky new owner will have a well looked after excellent bargain !!
Any thoughts ?

Do not think it is diesel issue, probably more to the fact on the 1st of March new registration came in. It probably took a month to actually take effect. I think diesels are still in demand, as i had a call from the dealer i service the car with if i am interested in selling as they have buyers. That is for a 9 year old car with over 100k miles. I would wait a bit, maybe it will pick up a bit again.

All car prices have fallen since the start of the Ukrainian conflict . Mainly due to the rapidly increasing cost of living alongside of the huge increases in automotive fuel. Plus of course people don’t like uncertainty.
The same distinction between whether petrol or diesel is the cheapest or best remains exactly has its done for many year and I can’t see it changing anytime soon.
My wee VW. GTI has lost over a grand in value since last month. I’m taking the values offered by both WBAC and Motorway which I consider to be trade values. The wee GTI is supposed to be in the most bulletproof sector because it’s fast fun and very economical to run yet it’s still dropped ….
I may be among the few who would buy another diesel car….. No one wants to loose big money but I’m not sure the time is yet right to buy hybrid or electric as I feel sure that sector of cars will improve over the coming years.
Bobby you and I have owned our diesel cars for some years now. I’ve had my one 8 years and consider I’ve long since had my moneys worth out of it. It kinda owes me nothing now .

How odd. All I hear is the value of used cars increasing. One chap who bought a used car in the south of England, drove it north (of Englanddshire) - didn't like the car, and sold it for couple of grand more to a local dealer!
My daughter bought a new Toyota Landcruiser (she lives in Brisbane)and has been offered 15,000AUD$ more than she paid for it !! The delays in getting new cars is driving used car price up it seems. Autotrader price seems to be around £12,000

Forgot to add, that prices may be curtailed due to excessive hinge corrosion. I know that my Green Goddess value seems to have plummeted which I attribute to it having well in excess of 20 hinges.....even though it only has 2 doors to the cab

However my wife may be driving on the motorway more this year perhaps on her own, whilst I sort out a health problem, and I will feel she is better protected in the CRV. I think diesels will still be a good choice for those doing big annual mileages so I would hold out for a decent price for your RAV.

Why not list your car on here in the for sale section…you never know 👍🏻👍🏻 I’ve been watching several brands of car for my daughter and all are more expensive than a few months ago, So feel prices are still staying high .

Promising and positive feedback, cheers.
As I said, I'm in no rush to sell, so I'll take my time and do it properly and will also post on here.
It's a cracking car with absolutely nothing to hide.
Thanks.

Thanks. If the cars good and with no outlay in sight it may be worth keeping it. OK it might burn a little more fuel than an alternative but that likely won’t add up to a lot unless you mileage is high. Im the first to admit I don’t really understand the real world workings or gains that hybrid or fully electric give. I do recognise that these type of vehicles are becoming more popular as the choice of vehicles increase. So for me I’m happy to wait and see what comes out and watch improvements and importantly prices come down. 👍👍

Bristol, Bath, Birmingham, Bradford (looks like all the Bs!!) are similar. Manchester has been delayed but will come. Followed by many others.)
