Quick question not sure on this as Kwik Fit have quoted just under £900 for an exhaust. It looks like it’s snapped from underneath so do we need to replace the whole lot? I can’t get underneath so the Mrs has got a photo the best she can   |

They are worth serious money. You could take the line "how much will the new CAT cost?" then "how much will you give me for the old one then?" |

Thanks guys I’ve had a shop around and there’s a few places that can do one locally we decided to go for SS one I think you know the guy the Chris the one that did my cortina. His quotes just over £300

Managed to get the exhaust done eventually. The guy that was booked in to do the SS he said the exhaust was in pretty good nick to replace the whole lot so he cut that section out and fabricated a new one at a cost of £60. I was a little unsure when he suggested that but his guaranteed it and it seems to be perfect. Still can’t believe the prices of these places like kwik fit. The T180 needed the back box replacing and the prices quoted for that were ridiculous too.

gaffer tape and silicon filler is what I used on our old Fiat engined generator. Lasted for years. Cost £8

I was a little unsure when he suggested that but his guaranteed it and it seems to be perfect. Still can’t believe the prices of these places like kwik fit. The T180 needed the back box replacing and the prices quoted for that were ridiculous too. That’s just the honest mechanic you wanted , no pressure from his managers to make maximum profit, he could tell the condition of the exhaust and new a repair would make it safe again . Keep his number to hand Ash, other members could do with visiting him 👍🏻👍🏻 I use to see that in my motor trade days, customer goes to a "fast fit centre" told exhaust too rusty and won’t come apart , they then came into us for a 2nd option, I put it on the ramp..bit of heat on the bolts and just replace the section needed 😠 |
