Hey!
I'm a new proud owner of 3rd generation diesel Rav4. Not only my first Rav4, but also first car in my life, so I'm super excited and a bit at a loss at the same time.
Bought it used from a sweet elderly lady in Switzerland, who drove it for 8+ years and took great care of it. Got it checked at local official dealer's service and they said it was a great deal, since its condition was superb.
Here's what I know about the car, and things I would like to know:
1. Facelift 2010, XA30 by look, probably European version from what I've gathered so far, since there's no spare wheel on the back door. Read somewhere there's also difference between European and UK cars? What are they?
2. D-CAT shield on the left fender, I assume stands for "Diesel Clean Advanced Technology", but what exactly Euro emission standard (Euro4 vs Euro5) it falls under - not clear to me. What should I look out for in terms of maintenance, related to emission standards compliance?
3. Hydraulic automatic transmission - though some sources say, it doesn't come with 2.2 diesels, yet there it is . A bit too long shifting time between 1-2-3 to my liking, at least for city. For countryside/offroad it seams justified. Previously had experience with MT only, so any advice on "dos and don'ts" with this particular AT are welcome!
4. AWD - gave it a try at few snow covered mountain roads in Carpathians, and loved how easy-breezy it was . That's exactly what I chose this car for - driving around town with nasty roadways (I'm Ukrainian), mixed with occasional ski trips. Btw, can I hit the AWD button on the run when I need to, or it's better to come to a full stop first? Any recommendations?
5. My user manual comes in Deutsch and covers several other engine+transmission variants. Googled a lot for this specific vehicle's manual in English - no luck so far. Also, illustrations in my book are very low quality black&white pictures. Would be very grateful if anyone shared English user manual, or any alternative guides!
Cheers!
