Thanks .. yes already restored the lights, what a difference it made too! Out of interest, what bulbs have you got in the headlamps? I'm guessing that most of the guys on here have Osram Nightbreakers(?) or some other brand of higher output bulbs fitted. That makes quite a difference to night driving as well as refurbishing the lenses Indeed. Night breakers every time on the 4.2. Tried Philips once but they weren’t anywhere near as good as the Osrams. I can’t use Nightbreakers on the 4.5 as it has LEDs.

One final, but wide question, I did search the site but couldn't find it. Considering I now have the car, outlined in my sig, but I don't know when oils/lubes etc were changed etc what would be your minimum service you would do? I have the MOT in November so Planning some 'sort her out' work in line with that. Brakes have been done recently when a line was replaced. So Im thinking the following... Obviously engine oil/filter Obviously air filters - engine and cabin But would you recommend .. Gearbox oil change? Any drive train oils? Any suspension/running gear bushes? I note they look quite tired/perished but Im not getting any knocks/rolling that concern me Anything else? She's on 90,000 miles Thanks I use Shell helix oil in mine with a Blueprint pattern oil filter ….although genuine is only 5-6 pounds more. castrol oil or similar for gearbox and diff. the Mk2 RAV4 was very well built so don’t tend to give many suspension problems ….although with your mileage check the rear diff mounting, the middle can rip out the mounting if it’s had a hard life. Rear coil springs can break but again not a common problem.

There should be an identification plate either on the bulkhead or possibly the suspension turret under the bonnet. Could also be on one of the door pillars. The code is likely a three letter/number down on the bottom left of the plate. You are looking for a plate like this:

The Silver 2003-2005 RAV4’s colour name is ARGENTA and paint code is 1D4, Once you’ve located the chassis plate check is says 1D4 👍🏻👍🏻
