Hi i have taken the turbo off my d4d. it's a 2.0 2005. i noticed the input side vane nut was missing . The vanes are badly damaged. so new turbo ordered. BUT where would the nut possibly go. cleaned the intercooler, no more oil in it, cleaned all pipes, ordered new oil feed pipe. Please can anyone think of where it could have gone. i am a 70 yr old but willing to do anything. have build engines in good old motors i.e crossflow. at a loss with this. Many thanks for any help given. if i can help any one please ask.

Welcome along ajb.......70 and still stripping off......respect. Hopefully some of the folk I have trained on here will come up with an answer to where one of yer nuts has gone. Again, at 70, these things can happen.

I don't THINK that the nut could actually pass through an open valve. Have you had the inlet manifold off and checked inside the inlet ports?
