Interesting qualifying, hope Red Bull give Ricciardo the support they gave Max last weekend but doubt it, my prediction is the same top three steps from last weekend, the only worry is that smoke coming from Hamilton's car, hopefully just a bit of over filling.

I find the Red Bull Qualifying stats interesting ... up to Suzuka, Max has out-qualified his team mate in the last 10 races! that is quite remarkable. I know it is not fair on the drivers really, but from a selfish persepective the race is always a lot more interesting when one of the top driver/cars is out of place and way down the grid, so tomorrow should be good. certainly one of my favourite races anyway Great result for the Torro Rossos and Honda. McLaren must be kicking themselves throwing away $50M in order to prop up the back. They and Williams seem to have the self-destruction process down to a fine art. They both need a major kick up the arse - especially Williams who need some proper leadership (Claire Williams just doesn't seem to have what it takes from what I can see) Looking foward to the Race and aim to watch it as it happens

I think Maclaren just convinced themselves that the engine was the problem, when it's now apparent that it wasn't the only issue, they claimed to have one of the best chassis's on the grid, unfortunately moving to Renault power has proved that not to be the case.
Williams is just sad to see, one of the great names, but my thought is it's all about finance, they have two young kids who maybe great drivers, but can they tell the engineers what is wrong, do they have the strength of character to be able to say, I know your computer says we need to do this, but the way I drive I need it to do this.
But with Vettel & Ricciardo were they are hopefully it will be an interesting race, if only the track was a bit wider.

The worst case of this I had was many years ago when my clock radio went off at six o'clock one Sunday and said "This is the six o'clock news. Michael Schumacher has won the Japanese GP" not even a chance to switch it off.

Williams refused to become a Mercedes B team which would have helped them, although they are planning to use Mercedes engines and now gearboxes for 2019, having paying drivers is a slippery slope to the back of the grid....agree Claire is not management material. Max has been penalised in the race again today ....I’m starting to feed he is being singled out, look at the incident with Vettel and give an opinion 🤔

It could just have been put down as a first lap incident maybe but were Max goes wrong is to moan about it afterwards. The incident with Vettel was treated as a racing incident - the commentators felt that if anyone was at fault it was Vettel who seemed rather over eager to make up for his bad luck during qualifying. That said I agree that Max has a reputation for being hot-headed (probably deserved) and is therefore the go-to guy for blame at every incident he is involved in. He reminds me a bit of a pushy young Hamilton so he might be quite good once he grows up!

Ref Max and the penalty. He was kind of unlucky but in the wrong place at the wrong time and he was the driver so perfectly justified IMO. He was actually a touch lucky that he just got a 5 second penalty as Kimi lost a place to Vettel because he lost drive when pushed off the track when Max came back on right where Kimi was. I was expecting Max to be told to give up the place due to taking advantage - which would have meant letting both Ferrari's past.
I had to laugh when he said it was down to Kimi coming up alongside, and that "he should have waited" or words to that effect. If I were that interviewer, I would have asked Max if HE would have slowed down to let the guy who missed the corner to stay ahead if the positions were reversed!

I have to agree with this, he was very lucky he knew exactly what he was doing, he knew exactly where Kimi was, all he had to do was to take off some steering & come back onto the track a little later, but he would have lost both places so he chose the other option putting it into the hands of the stewards which if he didn't go his way he could whine about. My concern is with Max if he continues there is going to be a big accident, I think he's actually trying to use these incidents to intimidate the other drivers into not making the passes on him.

After seeing the full race today the first Kimi incident was Max’s fault fully and he could have taken a tighter line but the 2nd clash was down to Vettel trying to hard..could be seen as a desperate man at this time in the season .

Max caused the 1st incident 100%, he could have 100% avoided it, Max caused the 2nd incident 20% he chose to have the collision, knowing full well it meant more to Vettel than him. Sorry but he needs to grow up, his tactics are spoiling the sport.
