Thanks everyone. As we are in Tier 4 lockdown, even the supermarket cafes are shut! And its also St Andrews Day - not even a public holiday or dispensation to open a restaurant!!
Several others share this date - Winston Churchil, but he's dead. And Lorraine Kelly of TV fame.
Some planning was required given the circumstances - bring in a few bottles, and I had some of the best smoked salmon available delivered - Marbury Smokehouse. I'd highly recommend them, and they do mussels; cheeses; and other fish. However their salmon has graced Royal tables (not the salmon I have) - good stuff.
So I'll raise a glass to all my friends on this forum; and may your hinges be forever oiled!

Raised enough glasses today to cover most..... and the hinges? Invest in Hurricane Energy like I did - their Scottish oil is a good viscosity for hinges !! |
