It is just so crap now isn't it. Purely money, no excitement, no competition, nothing. Don't even bother with the highlights on C4 anymore. How can those in charge not see they are killing the sport?? Personality i enjoyed the race, although C4's insistance in having an advert for the next program displayed the whole time, when you already have several boxes on the screen for race information is really annoying.

The same could be said for the Ferrari’s years when Schumacher won his 7 world championships ...this is only history repeating itself 🤔🤔 At least the field is a lot closer than the ferrari years and max/red bull are providing a bit of a challenge, also no team orders, the amount of races Baracello had to let Schumacher through even when it wasn't really necessary for the points. Agree ...it was painful to see team orders made to look so obvious 😠😠

It's ok now though. Bottas doesn't have to let Hamilton by. Hamilton just passes him anyway. The Ferrari days were a bit dull too no doubt.

Will Hamilton leave? I think he's seriously considering it, not too sure it fits in with the image he's now trying to portray, I suspect he'll take a 1 year contract & both Toto & him will exit stage left from Mercedes.

He’s got money in the bank and broken most of the F1 Records...he may as well go pursue his fashion/music and the BLM campaign.......give George Russell the seat 😉😉

I'm beginning to wonder if Mercedes will leave if they get another driver / constructors championship next year. Bernie could be difficult to deal with but Liberty Media don't seem to have much feel for sport other than as a cash cow. IMHO Bernie saw the writing on the wall and did an extremely good deal - for him! I'd hoped that Ross Brawn would have more influence than he appears to have.

On the last point, yes but no. Yes, Schumacher's teammate was told to let him pass to get him more points, and this was a Team Order and not one that Michael asked for. No, actually the reason for this I think was a consequence of the 1999 Season, where Michael broke his leg at Silverstone and missed the next 6 races (so 7 in total). The result of this was while Ferrari won the Constructers Championship with Schumacher, Irvine and Mika Salo (standing in for Michael), Hakkinen for McLaren got the more headline Drivers title. I reckon after that they decided to try and get the best driver (who is always going to be Michael Schumacher) as clear a lead as possible as soon as possible as a precaution. It's a team game and TBH I think, sad as it may be and unsporting as it may seem, it was - at the time - a legal action and if I were the Boss, I would likely have done the same for the good of the team (the end result would have been the #1 driver would be in front of #2 anyway)

You could well be right, the relevance of F1 within the motor industry in it's present form is getting less, I said this on the Honda withdrawal thread, they've seen the light, the same applies to Mercedes, ploughing millions into an ageing technology.

Over the years f1 (and other motor sport) has actually contributed a lot to ordinary cars that people drive in performance economy and safety, while hybrids exist this will continue, but ultimately formula E is going to be the development platform. Also possibility an E WRC might be interesing.

Would agree about FE as a future development platform for consumer cars.

Yes they have as above hence the comment, but I don't think Formula E is the correct platform, it's too rigid, there has to be innovation & Formula E doesn't allow that. As to E WRC, Ken Block was racing a E Fiesta in the Autocross series, not sure how he got on, I missed the racing just his introduction to it.
Edit:- Here you go

I saw Ken Block at Goodwood festival of speed a few years ago, amazing to watch his fine car control, although he did misjudge one corner and dent a few bails. As far as formula E I have only seen a little bit so not up on the regulations, i was thinking as it was purely electric it would help to push forward on the technology side that can then transfer into road vehicles for example battery life. We will just have to wait and see.

We will just have to wait and see. Problem as I see it is that they all have to run all the same batteries, motors & chassis's with the only thing they can change is the software, which although levels the field, stops innovations, just look what Adrian Newey has done over the years by looking at things differently, then Brawns with their blown diffuser, Mercedes with their engine, these were innovations that cannot happen with rigid rules as currently in Formula E

Ok i understand the problem now, hopefully as things progress teams will start to get more leeway

I would probably watch formula E if it used better tracks , why not use some of the shorter F1 tracks ?, do E cars have to run on flat street circuits, can they not go up and down hills ? It so bland watching all that concrete and guard rails 😕
