Hi team, After seven years, the time has come to replace the battery on the Rav which is currently a Bosch S4 029. This is the largest battery that I believe will fit my car dimension wise. The question is , do I replace it with the same again or go with the popular choice of Yuasa , although their recommended battery for my car is smaller ? This is the Bosch I have fitted presently. This is the Yuasa option.

Jase, by my reckoning, Yuasa: YBX5334 is almost equivalent to the Bosch, but maybe slightly more expensive. YBX3334 Same capacity as the Bosch, but a bit lower CCA. Price probably between the two you've posted.
Seem to be same dimensions (give or take 1mm) and terminal layout.
Bosch seems to have 4 year "guarantee", Yuasa maybe only 3. Not recommending, just point out.

I tended to go with the highest Ah - but thats for my green goddess and other trucks I've had, where size wasn't an issue. When I had the 4.1s, I think I used Yuasa. Reason? If I remember they were the make I used on fire alarms where the battery has to last and be dependable. The price quoted seems awful high though?

Jase on paper the Bosch has the higher specification over the Yuasa, for me it will always be a Yuasa on reliability ....yet if the Bosch has the 5 year warrenty and you plan to keep the car go with that 👍🏻👍🏻

I looked into this and anything behind the dimensions of the Yuasa YBX3031 will not fit in the tray...short of cutting it about 😕

I would always go for Yuasa for reliability as well as longevity. Their quality seems to be just that bit above everything else. 👍

Luckily, both of my trade suppliers are selling Yuasa now so I get them by default. Daughter’s Auris has just had a 3000 which cost £67 which was fine because it’s a bigun. To be fair, the Burnaston made car’s original was a Varta which was 12 years old. The beauty of Yuasa batteries is that they’ll take a lot of abuse in terms of standing short trips and being stood for a long time. That 5000 battery will probably be very heavy, they have really decent lead plates in them.

The new battery arrived today , very well packaged , I'm going to have to eat an extra weetabix before I attempt to fit it as it weighs in at 21.6kg 🤔
