For me anything over 5k is pushing what I feel is a reasonable price...yet 47k is a seriously low mileage for its age. My car back in 2005 was £17995.00 which is eye watering. Not sure what the competition was in the day..guess just the Suzuki Grand Vitara and look at them now junk on wheels. The mk2 Rav4 as proved to be a robust and extremely reliable motor over the years that’s why certain models of three door auto are commanding top dollar now.

I agree there comes a price that is just too much. Sounds like you wouldn't recommend a Suzuki Grand - I assume you mean a really old one.

To be honest Chris i haven't a clue but thought they were around the £20-22k for the later XT models?? Can you enlighten us? We'll see how long this one lasts on the forecourt, think it's only gone on today as i haven't seen a 3 door auto at WCVC for a while now this is the first and low mileage. Yes it's the first decent one since Bob bought his. The service history is not annual and I don't think the best spec but it looks a decent car. They have a 5 door for a lot less, so it's quite a premium for the 3 door. The 5 door has been sold - it did look a good one.

No the later one made it upto 2012, poor fuel economy for petrol engines and to my mind not that well screwed together .

No the later one made it upto 2012, poor fuel economy for petrol engines and to my mind not that well screwed together . I had a 2004 Diesel Vitara before my RAV and it was much nearer to the LR approach to AWD than the Toyota one. On the plus side this included a low ration gearbox which was brilliant in poor road conditions or when towing. On the down side this too ( the diesel model ) was pretty poor on fuel averaging somewhere in the low 30's. When I came to replace it the new model had a Fiat engine which didn't appeal at all - so I bought the RAV and gave the Vitara to my daughter who loved it until I got her a RAV the same as mine.

I thought the later Grand Vitaras were ok ? When I posed the question to the lads at DNA in Worcester (ex Toyota Master Techs) as to what would be a good replacement for the three door Rav , they had no hesitation in recommending the GV..

TBH, I can't make my mind up whether I like the Grand Vitaras or not ? I know Charlie's not a fan of Suzuki..

Maybe I’m just biased against Suzuki’s.....I’ll set on my hands from now on😉😉 I can sympathise up to a point, Bob. It's the same with Suzuki's bikes. When you compare them to Hondas, they just seem kinda cheap. The fairing's flimsier, the paint and the graphics are thinner, the welding on the frame looks like it was done in a GCSE metalwork class. But they do get the essentials spot-on: Strong, bullet-proof engines (apart from the K5 Gixxer 1000), excellent gearboxes, well-tuned suspension, brilliant brakes. You could make a similar comparison between the RAV and the GV. The GV just seems that bit less well-built but they nevertheless have a good reliability record and they seem to stand the test of time judging by the number of Mk1's and Mk2's that I still see on the road. Regrettably their petrol engines suffer similar mpg performance as the RAV🙁.
