Hi,
I have a 2003 RAV4 and joined a few years ago, I tried to log in for the first time in a long time but my user name and password didn´t work.
Anyway, I´ve re-joined as ´gadget´, I still have the 2003 RAV4 but it has too many problems for me to keep up with and has done well over 200,000km, I finally decided that it was time for a ´new´car. Yesterday, after looking at lots of RAV4 over the past months I bought a very white 2007 RAV4 first registered in 2008. The wheels are not what I like and the tyres are quite noisy, I have new summer tyres on the other RAV4 and will change them.
I have a question: my ´new´car has a SatNav system but no reverse camera and I´m wondering if at the rear of the SatNav/CD player there might be the connections for a reverse camera if I mounted one.
Chassis number is: JTMBC31V606083362
Thanks for your time, John (aussie in Norway)

Welcome. I am pretty sure some members have fitted reversing cameras so will no doubt be able to advise.

Welcome. Rev camera. That's a very old chestnut. See:
EDIT:
Some info on the "proper" mating half connector:

Thanks for the help guys, I think I´ll get used to the new car first. Then look into if this is possible.
The previous owner has installed this clip on rear view mirror with a forward facing camera, it is also hooked up to a camera mounted at the top of the inside rear window. When reverse is selected the screen in the mirror shows the rear view with lines marked for backing straight back.
When not in reverse, the screen in the mirror shows the view ahead in about 75% of the screen and the view out the back in the other 40%..... I don´t like it at all but I think I can program it to show more rear view all the time...... When the time comes I´ll look into getting rid of this as it looks very ungainly on the rear view mirror and is quite distracting.
Recording and taking stills are both possible with this thing but it is of no interest to me, cheers, John
Here is a photo of it.....

Thanks for the welcome back, I will pick up my ´new´car on Tuesday, it´s going to look pretty plain when I put the 16" Toyota rims on but the huge rims with low profile tyres that are on it have a lot of curb damage and the tyres are quite worn & noisy.
I´ve been getting my 2003 RAV4 ready for sale today, it´s nothing special, a little rough around the edges, 196,000km, lots of older RAV4s and other SUVs on the main selling site here in Norway (called Finn.no). Just saw a 2007 D4D with 335,000km on the clock, I hope my ´new´ 2007 gets up towards that.
The old 2003 D4D towed a pretty heavy tandem trailer full of firewood 170km from our cabin last Sunday and went very well. I though I can advertise it with no known problems but the next day it had a real rattle in the motor, I thought it might be the chain tensioner. At the same time the clutch was not very smooth when pushing the pedal down, I though that I´d be lucky to get much at all for the car, then the next day both problems were gone! Phantom problems, my imagination, who knows!?
cheers, John
