Why why why do they do this. catching up with the news and papers this morning at 08:00 uk time then.
"and now over to sports news"
"xxxx xxxx" has won the Japanese grand prix!
No build up no way to switch it off in time.
Not every one pays for F1 coverage and even if I did i still wouldn't get up at some ridiculous hour of the morning to watch it, I bet they wouldn't do this if it was an important football match.
Rant over

Thanks for the heads-up. I plan to watch the highlights on Channel 4 this afternoon (2.20pm to 4.55pm) but I reckon that the chances of avoiding the result until then are pretty low! - especially since I plan to watch Scotland v Japan later this morning! ...

My neighbour has news blackout until he’s seen the race on channel 4 .....so easy to see it on the news or hear it on the radio 🙄 for me I like to know the outcome in advance although now having Sky on a Now stick I’m watching it live . 6am was a bit too early for me today after watching the qualifying at 3am 😴

I managed to avoid knowing the result but I haven't always been that lucky.
I have moaned about Sky in the past and refuse to pay them any money! I have recently been getting annoyed about the BBC licence fee too! On the other hand I am a convert to Netflix and think Amazon Prime is good as well.

Netflix is brilliant and Amazon Prime is the best investment we have made in years!! I do find F1 pretty boring nowadays so don't bother with it.

I watched it live I did have everything set to record but woke up at 5 to 5:00, looked at time and thought "I could watch the qualifying and then have that done in time for the start of the race". Result Was a good race though. The way Lance Stroll swept past Robert Kubica on the last corner to take the checkered flag by 0.001 Seconds was incredible

They were both disqualified for that and it was actually the two Torro Rosos that managed a Dead Heat for the win I was shocked at Lewis being lapped 4 times by the Williams though.

Lance Stroll finished 11th while Robert Kubica had a horrible weekend and finished 19th ... Though I must admit that I switched off and moved on immediately after the leaders crossed the finish line ... so missed the post race stewards adjustment of the result for Charles Leclerc doing "a Max" on Max Verstappen. Hey ho ...

I know loads of people who no longer pay (well they say they don't) a bbc licence. Is it law?? We like Netflix too - looks like a new series of Fastest Car to get stuck into over the winter. Don't have sky - but the gym does, so unfortunately couldn't dodge the result. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
