I fitted the Toyota one to my 4.2 3 Door Auto and it was a super-simple job as Jase describes (I swapped the entire wheel over when I did mine) I did fit a GoldCruise System to my 4.2 5 Door Manual and that was great (and better than the Toyota System but around 10 times the cost!). I did on the Manual 4.2 have to fit a switch to the clutch pedal though as none was fitted (that I could see anyway). Maybe some have switches as standard fitted or the ECU detects when the clutch is depressed somehow (a raise in engine revs or sudden drop in engine load?) I think a lot of vehicles where Cruise is an option are pretty ready for a factory retro-fit? I added OEM Cruise to my VW T5 by changing the stalk set, but did also have to do some wiring addition to the BM ('Body Management') ECU and a wire through the bulkhead to a connection near the battery. Had to enable it in the ECU as well but no extra electronics were needed. The Toyota add-on is a lot easier Any problems with the air-bag when you did the 3-dr, David? Nope. Just disconnected the bag and removed (after leaving for a time), then refitted again once new wheel in place and tested.

I simply did the same as Bob and left the airbag connected but slipped it through the steering wheel spokes out of the way.

Wow
I need this in my life, really that simple? I have a 2002, 3 door manual NRG. Is there any pre checks I can do to make sure it will work before taking the plunge?

Sorry to burst your bubble but can’t be done on the pre facelift model , your car has a throttle cable later cars have a fly by wire throttle, it’s the electronics that allow a cruise control to be fitted as a plug and play 👍🏻 Your option is an aftermarket cruise control kit 👍🏻

My bubble is burst, thanks tho! Cruise control is still a worthwhile addition to any Rav4 if you do a fair bit of motorway driving 👍🏻
