RRRRRRRRather nice Fella! Are they black rear sides with a coloured laquer over silver on the front or just VERY shiny? Which Michelins are they? My last set were Lattitude Tours which were excellent all-rounders but I decided to go for seperate winter and summer sets ( about 5 years after everyone else! ) this time.

Mich Alpins I think Chris. They are few years old, but proved excellent again last winter, in conditions that others seemed to have great difficulty with. Directional tread. The Urban Cruiser came with chrome effect type wheels. Shadow chrome, I think it is called. Well, that's what I asked for and they are an exceedingly good match. I got those wheels a few years back for a song (in relative terms). They were cosmetically a bit tatty, but I got them back to a reasonable standard. However, I've was never going to be able to strip them back to bare metal completely and so, they had of course, started to peel. I think (I stand to be corrected) the effect is done by a base black, then a silver over the top, then the clear coat. That's what I tried to do anyway & it worked reasonably well, with my "DIY refurb", a few years ago. They are perhaps now wasted on winters, because the finish is better than the OEM one with the "summer" tyres on, but the original set are still very good, so I can't be bothered to swap rims & tyres around. I liked the fact they even matched the balance weights to the inside colour of the rim.

Never heard any complaints about them, certainly not from Davrav and I. Many years ago I sprayed a bike frame. Silver base then laquer with a little black in it on top. By increasing the number of coats of laquer near the joints in the frame I managed to get a sort of graduated shadow effect. My nephew ( his bike ) was very impressed, but he was only 10 at the time.
