Gorgeous looking motor BK, and well deserved, I bought a ten yr old Rav last year has a fault code nobody can cure, and now has tpms light coming on, makes me think what reliable car I could buy without all these stupid electronics and then realised I already have one

Gorgeous looking motor BK, and well deserved, I bought a ten yr old Rav last year has a fault code nobody can cure, and now has tpms light coming on, makes me think what reliable car I could buy without all these stupid electronics and then realised I already have one The TPMS can be eliminated by cutting a wire in the loom known as “ the pink wire” Those of us with runflat tyres back in the day used to either cut the wire or put a micro switch inline to get rid of the light. I’m sure there’s a How too here on this forum somewhere 👍👍

I’m still just the tiniest bit unsure about hybrids…. I know they are well regarded here and that’s good enough for me.l Believe it or not a mate suggested one of these Lexus as a logical replacement for my RAV4 and whilst they look really good I’m unsure. I very nearly bagged a 68 plate Landcruiser a few weeks back with 50K miles which is very low for one of those but the seller decided to keep it. 👍 I’ve looked at the pro and cons of Hybrids over the years, and the bottom line for me personally is I wouldn’t use it enough and the 12v would constantly need charging . Hybrid models...Toyota Yaris, Auris, prius and Lexus CT200h owners are always complaining on forums that the 12v can be dead with in a week, so absolutely no use with my occasional usage. Yes I would be better off with a bus pass but we are all allowed our choices in transportation 👍🏻 Two things for me cloud the issue. Firstly the Rav hardly gets used now. So sitting unused probably won’t have a good effect on the traction ( is that the right term ) ….. Secondly when we do use it it’s to tow the caravan. So the electricity will soon get used and the car will then use the big V6 engine for the rest of the journey. So the electric element won’t do it’s job in getting decent MPG… At least that’s how I see it. Nice cars though and with 300 horses will go well but that’s not the priority just now,

My 3 door RAV 2002 auto model is perfect for the local shopping runs etc. The bus pass gets me anywhere in Scotland for £0. My Audi Q7 is great for longer journeys - a 2012 which has had its faults sorted. I still hope to drive around France, and would take the Audi. I'm not keen on hybrids, not over happy with the CVT transmission, so I'll be sticking with the cars I have. The 5 door Rav got sold at the weekend
